The salary range for this position will be $50,000-$80,000 based on experience (and rank sought). This position will carry the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (depending on qualification) with a start date beginning August 18, 2025. Job duties and responsibilities for this full-time, tenure track position include teaching undergraduate and graduate pre-service or practicing teachers in area of specialization; supervising student teachers; advising students enrolled in education programs; serving on department, university, and state-wide committees; and other activities as assigned. Scholarship, including research and publication, are required for tenure and promotion. Salary Range: $50,000 - $80,000 Qualifications Required/Essential Qualifications: Applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Elementary Education are required to have: A Doctoral Degree in Education or a related field from a regionally accredited university, completed by the start of contract. Commitment to working with diverse populations and fostering diversity across campus. A record of, or potential for strong research contributions in elementary education or a related field. Applicants for the position of Associate Professor must meet the requirements above and a distinguished record of academic achievement (scholarly research or other creative work, teaching, and service) that satisfies the criteria for Associate Professor status in the Department of Education at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Preferred Qualifications: Three years of successful teaching in grades K-6; Evidence of ability to integrate social justice issues into the curriculum; Additional licensure/endorsements in Reading / Literacy methods instruction; Knowledge of and experience with Indigenous pedagogies; Experience working with and teaching diverse and multilingual populations; Teaching experience particularly in reading, literacy, language development, literacy education, mathematics and social studies at the university level; Experience teaching graduate students and providing support through research and candidacy; Experience teaching with technology; Experience teaching online courses; Interest in K-6 community partnerships; Experience supervising students in K-6 school settings; History of successful grant writing; Additional preferred qualifications include one or more of the following: experience teaching language development including multilingual models of education; experience teaching elementary social studies; experience teaching elementary mathematics experience teaching emergent literacy skills; background in literacy education, including media and critical literacies About the Department The Department of Education is one of five departments in the College of Education and Human Service Professions and is the home of the Ruth Meyers Center for Indigenous Education.
