Heidelberg Materials is seeking an Environmental Intern to join our team in Duluth, GA for the summer of 2025.

We currently have an internship opportunity for a detail-oriented, self -motivated student. This opportunity is perfect for a student interested in gaining comprehensive experience and knowledge in the environmental aspects of the construction materials business. You will have the opportunity to learn about a stable industry as you work in multiple locations. This is a unique opportunity for you to begin your career with a proven leader in the hot-mix asphalt, ready-mix concrete, and construction materials industry.
Perform environmental audits to ensure regulatory and corporate compliance
Perform on-site permit compliance evaluations of RMC, HMA, and mining operations
Prepare regulatory environmental permit applications
Prepare audit findings reports for distribution to operations management
Assist the environmental managers with routine aspects and continuous improvement initiatives
Help facilitate community relations and sustainability initiatives
Prepare reports for submission to regulatory agencies
Help maintain and update the online environmental management system
Prepare, revise, and/or update emergency spill prevention and response plans
Perform various administrative tasks
Any other duties as assigned
What We Are Looking For:
Currently enrolled in an accredited university/college majoring in an environmental or engineering, or similar science/technical program. A student that will complete his/her sophomore or junior year is required. We will also consider a senior who will be pursuing a master's degree.
Proficient knowledge of applicable tools and technologies to be used on the job including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS proficiency is preferred.
High-level written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills
Self-motivated, conscientious, detail-oriented person who works effectively independently, and also as part of a team
Work safely and follow all Federal and State laws and regulations as well as company and site specific policies
