job summary:

Client is seeking several Construction Materials Engineering Technicians for temp to hire career opportunities in the metro Atlanta area. As an entry-level role, this position is ideally suited for those eager to learn and grow in the expanding construction industry. Ideal candidate will have some construction experience and the desire to work outdoors throughout the year. Company vehicle and gas provided!

responsibilities:

  • Reviewing Plans and Specifications: Gain a comprehensive understanding of project requirements prior to fieldwork; meticulously document observations and testing outcomes pertaining to construction materials.

  • Utilizing Field Technology: Efficiently employ field and laboratory information management systems for meticulous data organization.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the precision and reliability of field and laboratory tools to meet rigorous industry standards.

  • Special Inspection Observations: Adhere to International Building Code (IBC) standards for testing and inspecting various construction materials.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with management, contractors, and clients to communicate project progress and address any concerns effectively.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A high school diploma/GED.

  • 0-2 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials.

  • Proficiency in English communication (speaking, reading, and writing).

  • Basic math skills with understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure.

  • Ability to perform data entry using smart devices into multiple software applications.

  • Active certifications such as American Concrete Institute (ACI) or International Code Council (ICC) are advantageous.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

This role requires a willingness and ability to meet the physical demands, including:

  • Working outdoors for extended periods in diverse weather conditions.

  • Navigating rough and uneven terrain.

  • Regularly transporting field/laboratory samples and equipment.

  • Safely maneuvering loaded wheelbarrows and equipment around active construction sites.

  • Occasional travel, including overnight stays, for project assignments.
