Job Description

The Job is based in Germany.

Renesas seeks an enthusiastic, dynamic Senior Manager of Field Application Engineers (FAE) for its Strategic Automotive Sales team. In this role, the candidate will work closely with sales engineers and FAEs to support key customers in Renesas’ Digital and Analog & Power product portfolio.

As a Sr. Manager of Field Applications Engineers, you are the bridge between your customers and many internal business divisions. Your primary goal is to win new business by leading the Automotive Field Application Engineering team to become the trusted advisor of Automotive Tier 1s and partners through best-in-class design-in support.

  • Oversee the FAE team activities, ensuring they have the resources and processes to support customers and partners through all development life cycle phases.

  • Join calls or meetings with top customers to act as a technical expert; involve and coordinate Application Engineers and Marketing teams to support customer requests.

  • Track critical escalations and ensure that issues involving other engineering teams are resolved, if necessary; keep stakeholders informed of progress; and provide advance notice to the manager regarding critical issues.

  • Maintain expertise in various Renesas products and related technologies, including product specifications, technologies, capabilities, customer user cases, etc.

  • Partner with stakeholders to provide a strategy for a wide variety of Renesas products and technologies, especially for global accounts that require coordination across regions.

  • Continuously develop the technical capability of the FAE team to match the needs of Renesas and our automotive customers.

  • Work with business units to ensure that the necessary demos are developed and meet customer demands.

  • Provide feedback on product roadmaps and go-to-market strategies to Business Units.

  • Work with Application Engineering and Marketing teams to ensure the availability and quality of product documentation and training/help materials.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve complicated technical requirements or customer documentation.

  • Actively drive technical exchange with FAE / AE / R&D / Marketing teams at the global level regarding new application and product requirements, system architecture, customer support, new standards, etc.

  • Set and monitor KPIs' achievement and define FAE team development measures.

  • Influence the formulation and achievement of the Sales team's long-term business plans and objectives.

Qualifications

Besides your demonstrated technical skills and experience, we are looking for a team player. You should have very good communication skills and interaction with people. You are curious by nature and eager to keep up with our technological advances, as well as your customers' development. Furthermore, you like to share your knowledge and experience with your customers and team. Additionally, it is required to act on your own initiative, evaluate chances and risks carefully.

  • 10+ years of experience in a similar role would be preferred, but personality and technical knowledge are key.

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering and a good track record of building customer relationships.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience of technical teams in supporting customers and partners.

  • Strong problem-solving capability to interface customer needs and resources with energetic and proactive approaches.

  • Strategic and commercial thinking to perform and organize efficient design in plan for target accounts. Have the capability to identify key projects and recommend possible solutions.

  • Ability to work independently with strong analytical skills, self-motivation and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Very good command of German and English language and mobility are key elements required for the job.

  • Valid and existing residence and work permit for Germany, or another EU country is required.
