DUCHESNE COUNTY AUDITOR Seasonal Weed Assistant in DUCHESNE, Utah

POSITION PROFILE

Weed Control Sprayer will search for invasive weeds and identify and treat them with spraying equipment on road right-a-ways without harm to or destruction of desirable vegetation in compliance with EPA guidelines (Environmental Protection Agency). Calculates chemicals application rates; mixes various herbicides in spraying units to correct proportion; assesses wind direction before applying; and maintains spraying equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs limited mechanical work, including greasing of equipment when needed;
  • Operates all hand tools needed to perform labor tasks;

``` - Responsible for keeping equipment clean and in proper working order. - Perform duties efficiently and timely.

· Performs similar or related work as required, directed, or as the situation dictates.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanical repair experience desirable; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Must have a current and valid Utah Driver License.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation successfully
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Thorough working knowledge of public works equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of field safety.
  • Professional interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work safely and accurately.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor under varying weather conditions.
  • Exemplify professional and courteous service to both employees and the public.
  • Maintain focus when operating and working on equipment.
  • Exemplify good safety practices and protocols.
  • Obtain their Pesticide Applicator's License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The majority of work is performed outdoors, where workers are exposed to extreme heat, cold, and inclement weather. They are also subject to the hazards associated with weed applications and working with/around vehicles and tools.

``` - Regularly operates UTVs and light trucks and hand spraying equipment. - Frequently lifts and/or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds, such as tools, equipment, supplies, etc.

``` - Must be able to traverse uneven terrain and can back up and tow trailers. - Manually operates all department vehicles, tools, and equipment.
