Strategic Account Manager

Duration: fixed term contract for 7 months, starting January 2

The On Trade is essential to the delivery of Ireland’s growth ambition, representing 55% of the Irish NSV and 65% of the trading profit. It operates in a highly driven environment with a wide portfolio, with Guinness at its heart and innovation as the fuel for growth. Growing share of the core pub business across Guinness, beer and spirits is the top priority.

Our strategic customers account for 16% of the total On Trade and are growing. These bigger customers are actively growing their portfolio of pubs and business interests.

About the role

In this position, you 'll play a key growth role within the On Trade organisational structure and highly influence the trade, requiring the highest level of commercial competence, negotiation, relationship management and planning capability – a black belt commercial leader and a consultant to the trade.

You will:

  • Report into the Head of Commercial - Dublin

  • Write both the strategy and annual Joint Business Plans for their customers covering customer engagement, investment, volume growth, execution and cash management.

  • Have the highest execution standards and deliver the outcomes they need.

  • Use your commercial competence, relationships and market intelligence to drive performance, deliver growth and shape the market.

  • Sell-out, brilliant execution, and Quality focus will be at the core of everything that we do.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Agree and deliver NSV, Volume, Trading profit and Cash targets for the Diageo portfolio.

  • Deliver a multi-year growth strategy across each strategic customer covering relationship management, investment, and debt management, to realise +10% growth ambition.

  • Translate that strategy into an agreed annual joint business and activation plan for each strategic account group.

  • Negotiate annual investments discounts budgets, entertainment opportunities across strategic account groups to maximise commercial deliverables.

  • Actively run investment to ensure return on investment with regular internal and external reviews.

  • Seek out new business opportunities and deliver share growth in line with channel and category objectives

  • Lead cross-functional teams (brand, customer marketing, Commercial Exec, credit, finance, quality, logistics, customer services etc) to deliver strategy.

About you

  • A strong and broad track record in delivering commercial performance, going beyond expectations.

  • Strong leadership experience – extensive experience in developing ground-breaking commercial strategies.

  • Highly skilled in fostering commitment through advanced negotiation skills, resolving conflict and creating collaborative relationships.

  • Strong understanding of the Ireland On-trade landscape and associated relationship map and demonstrable ability to create purposeful understanding and relationships.
