Job Description:

Position Summary:

The "Monitoring Solutions Specialist" will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining monitoring solutions using ITRS Geneos, Dynatrace, and Splunk. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of these tools, proficiency in SQL, Python, and Shell scripting, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to system monitoring and incident management. Additionally, the candidate should be able to work effectively in a team and be open to performing analysis on new tools. A background in production support is considered a plus.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage monitoring solutions using ITRS Geneos, Dynatrace, and Splunk.

  • Configure and customize monitoring dashboards, alerts, and reports to meet the needs of various stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools using Python and Shell scripting to enhance monitoring capabilities.

  • Utilize SQL for data querying and analysis to support monitoring efforts.

  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to identify monitoring requirements and ensure comprehensive coverage of critical systems and applications.

  • Analyse monitoring data to identify trends, performance issues, and potential areas for improvement.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest features and best practices for ITRS Geneos, Dynatrace, and Splunk.

  • Evaluate and perform analysis on new monitoring tools and technologies as required.

  • Create and maintain documentation related to monitoring configurations, processes, and procedures.

  • In time, train and support team members in the use of monitoring tools and best practices.

  • Provide production support as needed to ensure system stability and performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Solid experience in IT infrastructure and application monitoring.

  • Proficient in one or all of ITRS Geneos, Dynatrace, and Splunk.

  • Strong SQL skills for data querying and analysis.

  • Proficiency in Python and Shell scripting.

  • Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and application architectures.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • Experience with incident management and root cause analysis.

  • Open to evaluating and analyzing new monitoring tools and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in ITRS Geneos, Dynatrace, or Splunk.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.

  • Familiarity with other monitoring or observability tools such as Datadog, AppDynamics, etc.

  • Background in production support.
