About the Role

The Senior Analyst, Product Innovation is responsible for identifying and qualifying new product opportunities for Optum Rx’s PBM. Reporting up to the Senior Director, Product Innovation, the Senior Analyst will analyze opportunities to develop a sustainable pipeline of new product ideas for build. As a Senior Analyst, you will leverage data, research, and market insights to bring analytical rigor that will ensure focus on the highest impact solutions for our clients and our business.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identify and gather internal and external data to evaluate business challenges

  • Conduct rigorous analyses of available data sets and build robust analytical models

  • Perform market and opportunity sizing and financial analysis

  • Build high-level pro-forma P&Ls for new product ideas

  • Guide market research and lead internal and external interviews

  • Test operational, legal, and clinical feasibility of new ideas

  • Develop and validate hypotheses to drive strategic recommendations

  • Create materials for sharing recommendations with senior audiences

  • Communicate analyses and key takeaways through reports and presentations

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or BA in a Quantitative field (Economics, Applied Math, Statistics, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, others considered) or equivalent experience

  • Experience working within a healthcare strategy environment or with healthcare clients

  • Experience in strategy consulting or corporate strategy with a focus on informing and influencing go-to-market decisions including business experience in 4 of the 6 following areas:

  • Gathering and analyzing internal and external data to evaluate business challenges and opportunities

  • Performing market and opportunity sizing and financial analysis

  • Performing competitor and trend analyses

  • Synthesizing data sets and extracting insights

  • Developing and validating hypotheses and driving strategic recommendations

  • Building financial models

  • Experience communicating analyses and takeaways via reports and presentations to internal and external audiences

  • Advanced Excel skills (creation of pivot tables, formulas, linking of cells and sheets, advanced manipulation, formatting of data and data visualization)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including PowerPoint for business presentations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in related business experience in strategy consulting or corporate strategy with a focus on informing and influencing go-to-market decisions

  • Experience working within innovation environments (start-ups, venture capital, new business development)

  • Experience guiding market research and leading internal and external interviews

  • Healthcare consulting or banking experience

  • Experience working in a cross-matrixed team-oriented environment
