Business context

TDS Data Platform is a self-service data platform for TD Securities offering all data management capabilities including but not limited to data access, data security, data lineage, data governance, and data quality through curated ingestion, storage, and analytical compute. It aims to reduce the time required to onboard and access data needed for analytics, reporting, audit etc.

Position Summary: (Overview of key purpose and accountability of the role)

We are currently seeking a Technical Business Analyst with Capital Markets background to join our team - Engineering Enablement and Business Intelligence Enablement within TDS Data Platform.

The Business analyst will work very closely with the Data owner(s) and Chief Data Office (CDO) to facilitate data onboarding onto the platform.

This includes assisting data owners with data mapping, data cataloging, data classification and other data management tasks.

The candidate will leverage their data domain knowledge and technical expertise to address business questions related to processes or data itself, utilize big data tools for investigation and data analysis, identify data and functionality gaps, make recommendations to the development team, perform testing of technical components (applications or services) built by the development team etc.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Must have

  • Degree in Finance/Accounting would be ideal or a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics alongside financial experience

  • Strong functional knowledge and relevant working experience in Capital Markets

  • Strong SQL and Excel skills

  • Worked with data visualization and analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Notebooks, Alteryx etc.

  • Proficient in using JIRA and Confluence

  • Project management skills and experience with Agile methodologies

  • Ability to work independently within a team in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken

Nice to have

  • Prior Experience with data tools such as Dremio, Databricks, Snowflake, Cinchy is a plus.

  • Experience with Data Governance and Data Stewardship

  • Experience working with Data Cataloging tools – Databricks Unity, Collibra, etc.

You will promptly report to TD Management and Compliance any violation or possible violation of such regulatory requirements identified as part of your supervisory responsibilities.

You must take reasonable steps to demonstrate that you exercise due skill, care and diligence in managing and/or delegating your responsibilities outlined, appropriately.

It is your responsibility to be fully aware of:

  • The scope of your management responsibilities.

  • The TD Policies and regulatory requirements pertaining to the business/activities you are managing.

  • The competence level of the staff, if any, reporting to you.

  • The control limits and your ability, if any, to delegate them within your business.
