About the Job:

An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Manager to join our Reservations Team at Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab. The main duties and responsibilities of this role:

  • Responsible for the delivery of all internal and external Service, Quality & Commercial performances as per Reservations KPI objectives

  • Work closely with Sales, Revenue and Hotel Operations Teams to maximize revenue opportunity and reduce operational inefficiency

  • Attend daily hotel operations meeting sharing Reservations relevant updates related to performance or trends

  • Responsible for ensuring all daily, weekly, monthly tasks are completed and documented related to Reservations, Audit, Revenue, compliance, finance, Visa’s, and Groups (Reservations Task List) and undertake spot checks to ensure compliance and sign off

  • Highlight any risk related to revenue, finance, and guest experience to the senior management team

  • Optimize resource collaborating to ensure all customer response times are responded within service level targets

  • Monitor and follow up on guest complaints (take ownership) and ensure relevant solution is provided by coordinating with other departments

  • Make sure that the department is always updated with any required information about our properties in terms of services offered, new rates applied, selling strategy etc

  • Motivate and manage the team to achieve best in class and sustainable service levels in keeping with the defined standards identifying opportunities for improvement

  • Training of new colleagues in the department and ensuring all business training requirements are completed

  • Ensure all colleagues have personal development targets and action plans

  • Monitor, assess and act as a coach to help deliver outstanding results

  • Monitor and evaluate min 4 calls and e-mails per colleague per month to ensure colleagues are performing

  • Conduct Annual Performance Reviews, daily briefs and monthly 1-1 coaching/meeting.

  • Complete recruitment for team including raising of new hire requests

  • Conduct formal HR meetings related to performance or behavioral issues including attendance.

  • Complete month KPI reporting to Director of Reservations and Director of Revenue for hotel

  • Complete vendor management requirements related to purchase orders and requests related to the smooth running of the department

  • To perform other duties that management may from time to time reasonably require

About you:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience as Reservations Manager or similar role in hospitality

  • Excellent knowledge of PMS systems

  • Experience in people management with exposure to managing a team of 6+ people

  • Communicates Effectively (eMail, Telephone – Listening Skills, Writing Skills and Verbal communication etc.)

  • Lead by Example

  • Team Player - Collaborates positively and effectively with others and team

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs and processes

  • Initiative – Identifies issues or area for improvement and taking ownership to resolve

  • Values the importance of diversity in team
