Position:   Instructional Support Aides - ESL  (JobID 5165) Locations: District - multiple buildings  Pay Rate: $16.06 per hour Schedule: Dependent upon location/position; up to 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday; 180 school days per year following Board-approved calendar Benefit Eligible: Yes - positions working at least 30 hours per week Effective Date: ASAP

Job Summary:  Under the direction of the ESL teacher, ESL curriculum leader and the supervision of the building principal, assists with the instruction of students individually or in small groups.

Qualifications:  To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.  The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skills and/or ability necessary.

  • High school diploma
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
  • Proficient in oral and written English communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in the use of technology for individual and system management, communications, and research.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal recordcheck requirements

Duties & Responsibilities:  *(Abbreviated - Please review the attached job description for more details on these specific opportunities) *

  • Guides individual students or small groups of students in a variety of settings to complement, reinforce, and enhance classroom instruction as directed by the ESL teacher.
  • Logs daily work and student progress to be reported to the ESL teacher and/or the building principal for use in designing appropriate next steps in instruction.
  • Attends training sessions provided throughout the school year.
  • Utilizes appropriate technologies (e.g. computers) as they relate to classroom instruction.
  • Travels throught the school locations within the district as needed
