Our team builds and maintains the next generation of OCI Data Services. We seek a hands-on engineer leader with expertise and passion for solving challenging problems in large-scale distributed systems. These are exciting times, and our team is undergoing rapid growth while working on many new ambitious initiatives.   • 8+ years of software development experience, with a strong foundation in Computer Science.

  • You are experienced at building highly available services and possess knowledge of common service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols.

  • You are proficient in Java programming and Python scripting.

  • You have prior experience working on distributed systems and experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

  • You have prior experience working with message brokering systems like Kafka and RabbitMQ.

  • You have hands-on experience performing DevOps functions (build, deploy, monitor, etc.) using relevant tools, preferably in a Cloud environment.

  • You have experience with production operations and good practices for putting quality code in production and troubleshoot issues when they arise.

  • You feel at home communicating technical ideas verbally and in writing (technical proposals, design specs, architecture diagrams, and presentations)

  • You are familiar with components of modern infrastructure, such as service discovery, secret storage, software-defined networking, and containers.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Member of the technical staff, you will,

  • Build cloud-native services on top of the modern Infrastructure as Service (IaaS) building blocks at OCI.

  • Design and build distributed, scalable, fault-tolerant software systems

  • Participate in the entire software lifecycle – development, testing, CI, and production operations.

  • A balance between product feature development and production operational concerns like writing run books, ops automation, structured logging, instrumentation for metrics and events

  • Leverage a plethora of internal tooling at OCI to develop, build, deploy, and troubleshoot software.

  • Participate in on-call for the service with the team.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

  10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
