Ryder System Group Transportation Manager in Doral, Florida

Position Description

The Group Transportation Manager internally titled, (Group Logistics Manager) oversees and improves all transportation operations for the Account & company. This position provides support and guidance to the operations that includes but not limited to driver onboarding, driver delivery, and ongoing driver relations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coach and mentor regional transportation managers

  • Develop a driver retention strategy to reduce turnover and improve service levels to our customers

  • Ownership of overall DOT compliance matters (HOS, driver records, etc)

  • Support new dedicated design solutions in pursuit of new business growth

  • Instill a best in class safety culture across the network

  • Manage customer invoicing compliance

  • Lead driver recruiting efforts in support of new business or current operational needs

  • P&L responsibility

  • Attend meetings and act as a liaison between the facility and corporate operations team by providing updates and interacting with site management.

  • Be the subject matter expert in dedicated transportation needs.

Additional Skills

  • TMW software experience is REQUIRED

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Logistics or Transportation or eight years equivalent work experience is required

  • A minimum of 7 (seven) years logistics (or materials) and transportation experience with a major carrier, dedicated contract or shipper is required

  • A minimum of 3 (three) years of supervisory experience is required

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The candidate must possess demonstrated experience in developing complete logistics product plans and their implementation, project management, facilitation, and communication skills

  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving preferred

Responsibilities

Duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Management of one or more customer accounts, lifecycle, and extending existing products where feasible, safety issues, profit and loss responsibility, directing the assessment, development, launch and continuous improvement activities related to specific business or product category and day-to-day customer interface and operation of on-site manager

  • Supervision, development, and performance management of assigned employees and the maintenance of a positive employee relations environment at assigned locations
