job purpose : The System Operator is a key member of the production team. The Operator must have: Knowledge of all production lines and equipment. Understand the separation process and the filtration process of the respective systems. Possess the ability to trouble-shoot and resolve issues; Responsible for system efficiencies: Understanding of milk components and specifications. Sound communication skills, both verbal and written. Assist Production Supervisor in the development and training of team members. Ensure that all documentation is accurate and complete. Ensure that GMP’s, Sanitation requirements, PM’s, and performance measures are tracked and met. Specific duties listed may be altered in the future as conditions warrant.

responsibilities:

  • Operation of Separators & Membrane Systems: Assure the proper processing, sampling, testing of product in accordance to SOPs, process schedules and product specification requirements.

  • Recordkeeping & documentation of all process and CIP via log sheets, check lists, dockets and any other required documentation.

  • Perform troubleshooting of equipment as needed to maintain efficiencies.

  • Perform sanitation & cleaning of separators, membrane systems, tanks, silos, lines, work areas, and maintain CIP systems as needed.

  • Performs & monitors the production, storage, batching and agitation of milk holding silos.

  • Assist with Lab, Production and Maintenance associates or any other duties as required and directed by supervisor and/or manager.

  • Comply with existing and/or future NMDA, USDA, FDA, or another regulatory agency as required.

  • Any other duties as needed throughout plant.

Separators, Membrane Systems, CIP Systems, Computer & Touch Screen Monitors, Copy Machine, Calculator, Analytical Equipment (Thermometers, pH meter, Titration Kits & Reagents, FT120 Milk Analyzer), Phone & Radio, Hand Tools & Miscellaneous Manufacturing Equipment.

skills/qualifications required:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to adapt effectively within a continually changing and demanding environment.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the products manufactured and the processes involved.

  • Basic understanding of equipment operations and minor troubleshooting ability.

  • Must be able to demonstrate an ability and willingness to communicate effectively in order to maintain high levels of Safety, Quality and Efficiency.

  • Ability to read and comprehend standard operating procedures and company guidelines in order to maintain regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to understand daily production needs.

  • Participate in a team environment safely.

  • Detail oriented, be quality minded.

  • Able to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment.

  • High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED) or Equivalent Experience.

  • Food manufacturing, material handling and forklift operation experience preferred.

  • Prior experience in the dairy or cheese industry is preferred.

  • Prior experience in manufacturing is a plus.

  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP's, OSHA and loss control programs is highly desirable.

  • Previous dairy plant experience in equipment CIP procedure and safe milk handling is a plus.

  • Ability to handle ambiguity and work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment

working conditions and physical requirements:

  • Up to 12 hours sitting/standing/walking

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

  • Exposure to hazards (machinery, confined spaces, etc.)

  • Must be able to work in and around loud noise levels, industrial machinery, air-conditioned environments suitable for carrying out controlled tests.

  • Must be able to operate motorized vehicles or equipment

food safety requirements: (Include for roles based in Plant locations)

  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.

  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.

  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.

  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.

  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.

  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

  • In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.
