Description
Under general supervision, rides public transit vehicles and/or observes transit operations from specified locations, collects passenger data and submits reports. Assists in other support activities in cooperation with scheduling staff.
Examples of Duties
Rides transit vehicles to collect data, as directed by scheduling and service development staff.
Conducts stationary point checks at designated locations.
Records ridership data, such as boardings, alightings, and load factors using standard forms and/or electronic devices.
Records actual vs scheduled times in order to determine on-time performance.
Distributes and collects questionnaires for public surveys.
Prepares standard forms for data collection.
Sorts, verifies, lists and prepares data for input.
Assists staff with detours, reroutes and distribution of customer information materials.
Minimum Qualifications
High School graduation or G.E.D with courses in mathematics and commercial subjects.
Preferably one year of clerical experience in general office or data entry work.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS
City Employees Retirement System
As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after:
• Completion of thirty (30) years of service;
At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or
At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service.
• In the event of disability, other eligibility rules apply);
- An early, actuarially reduced, retirement is offered after you have attained at least twenty-five (25) years of service;

This position involves riding buses for extended periods, often in varying weather conditions and crowded environments. How do you feel about working in these conditions while collecting data?
I am comfortable riding buses, but I would prefer less crowded or more predictable conditions.
I am comfortable riding buses in all types of environments and can focus on my tasks regardless of conditions or crowd levels.
I would need frequent breaks to manage the discomfort of crowded or noisy environments.
I prefer a quieter, more controlled environment and would find it challenging to work in crowded or unpredictable settings.

Since the job involves working at varying hours and on short notice, how would you handle changes to your work schedule?
I would prefer a fixed schedule and might struggle with changes.
I would be open to flexible scheduling and would make adjustments as needed to ensure coverage.
I would ignore last-minute changes unless given advance notice.
I would prefer to work only during the daytime hours and would not be available for any evening or weekend shifts.

This position involves riding various bus routes throughout Detroit. How familiar are you with the city's bus routes and the general layout of the public transportation system?
I have little to no experience with Detroit's bus routes and would need significant training to familiarize myself with them.
I am somewhat familiar with the routes and could quickly learn more with some guidance.
I am quite familiar with the main bus routes in Detroit and feel confident navigating the city's transit system.
I rely on using public transportation apps to navigate the city, but I am not familiar with specific bus routes or landmarks.
