Henry Ford Health System Prospect Research Analyst/Full Time/Hybrid in Detroit, Michigan

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Prospect Development, the prospect research analyst is the primary person responsible for driving major gift prospect identification and research efforts within the Development Office. This position will also be responsible for building and maintaining prospect portfolios for major gift officers and for managing the production of prospect profiles and executive briefings to be used at donor meetings and special events.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prospect Identification:

· This position manages wealth screening efforts intended to identify major gift prospects. This includes managing a variety of data warehouse processes which screen patients and donors on a daily basis.

· This position manages a variety of prospect identification processes intended to feed the major gift prospect pool. This includes efforts to coordinate the review of newspapers and periodicals for prospect information as well as efforts to obtain personal prospect lists from key volunteers, staff and medical professionals. Prospects will be identified from a variety of groups including grateful patients and their families, members of the metropolitan Detroit community, natural corporate and business partners, current and alumni physicians and staff, and foundations.

· Once a prospect with potential financial capacity is identified, this position will perform in-depth research on the prospect to determine if they actually have the capacity to be a major donor to the organization. If such capacity exists, this position will perform additional research to better understand the extent of their relationship with HFHS and recommend assignment to a major gift officer to reach out and move the relationship forward.

· This position will use a variety of online research tools including WealthEngine, Lexis Nexis, Donor Search, The Foundation Directory, Research Point, NOZA, and GuideStar. Strategy Development & Portfolio Management

· This position works closely with major gift officers and Development Office leadership to determine and track strategies for the engagement, cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects

· This position tracks the movement of identified prospects through the various moves management stages and develops reports to measure and communicate progress.

· This position works with gift officers to develop strategies for top major gift prospects and tracks these strategies in the Raiser’s Edge donor database.

Prospect Profiles & Briefings

· This position prepares briefing materials for Henry Ford Health System leadership and key volunteers in advance of key events and important donor meetings.

· This position conducts in depth research and creates highly detailed profiles for significant major gift prospects and as requested by the fundraising team.

· This position updates and maintains on-going research on select individual, corporate, and foundation principal gift prospects.

· This position oversees the flow, storage and retrieval of donor research information.

Coordination of Research Activities

· This position supervises project coordinators who assist in prospect identification and the production of prospect profiles.

· This position works with gift officers in the implementation of proactive and reactive prospect analysis.

· This position recommends and implements policies that affect managing research requests, determining level of research deliverables and ensuring that a historical record is created and preserved.

· This position implements new research techniques as they emerge, striving to increase efficiency and quality of research operations. Performs other responsibilities or assignments as required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred.

  • Must have five or more years of professional experience in research, including extensive prospecting experience with a major gifts focus.

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills:

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with attention to detail and timeliness.

  • Must possess knowledge of prospect research methods and be experienced with prospect research tools such as WealthEngine, Lexis Nexus, Donor Search, The Foundation Directory, Research Point, NOZA & Guidestar.

  • Must possess strong writing skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.

  • Must also possess strong interpersonal skills and strong computer skills.

  • Must have proficiency in appropriate management of confidential information.

  • The ideal candidate will also demonstrate professional judgment, discretion, strong interpersonal skills and exceptional analytical skills.

  • The ideal candidate will also have an awareness of financial descriptors and the ability to interpret corporate annual reports, proxy statements and other SEC filings.
