Job Description:
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing various engineering projects related to the extraction, processing, and transportation of salt at our mine. This role will focus on improving operational efficiency, ensuring safety standards, and managing project timelines and budgets.
Role and Responsibilities
Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
Analyzes engineering proposals, process requirements, and related technical data pertaining to industrial machinery and equipment design.
Determines feasibility of designed new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
Develops expenses and capital projects by generating; scope of work, alternative, estimates, project papers, specifications, budgets.
Executes expense and capital projects by; selecting contractors, writing request for quotes, awarding bits, overseeing contractors and internal maintenance personnel, inspecting/approving work, and closing projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Mine, Industrial or Electrical)
3 -- 5 years of project management experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Familiar with Autocad.

Knowledge of mining methods and in use and operation of related equipment.
Knowledge in the installation, basic maintenance, or operation of mine ventilation and materials processing/handling systems and/or mine shaft maintenance
Physical requirement
Must be able to climb ladders, steps, crawl and bend regularly
Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty pounds regularly
Must be able to wear proper PPE including steel toe shoes and safety glasses
Must be able to work safely in varying temperatures outside year round
