We are looking for high performing and motivated individuals in various areas within DTNA organizations.

Interns in this role may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position subject to manager evaluations and business availability.

The powertrain engineering intern will have the opportunity to work in each of the workgroups staffed by engineering and technician testing personnel. By rotating through work groups, a candidate can experience some of the duties/responsibilities a full time employee may be responsible for proficiency evaluations and observation opportunities. These areas include but not limited to: *  Assembly & Durability (dyno testing & powertrain build-up/ measurement, welding support) *Components Test (fixture testing, NVH(Noise, Vibration and Harshness) testing, hydraulics testing) *Emissions & Instrumentation (bench maintenance & calculations, test cell calibration, transducer/thermocouple calibration) *Facilities/Infrastructure ( Dyno controller tuning, test cell PID controller tuning, Safety PMs, etc.) *Performance Testing (dyno testing, engine & after treatment setup) *Prototype Materials Management ( prototype parts crib support, parts picking, inspection) *Vehicle Test Center ( In vehicle testing, powertrain component installations, swaps, retrofit/modify)

In addition to the areas listed above, the powertrain test center is also involved with several alternative powertrain topics; a candidate may have the opportunity to work on some of these items also.

Typical program duration of 12-16 week on-site at the Redford Michigan engineering campus.

The intern is responsible for maintaining their area at peak efficiency, producing quality data and a contributor to the team meeting engineering expectations. The duties may encompass a wide range of responsibilities related to testing medium/ heavy-duty diesel and alternative powertrain components or systems. Root cause identification and troubleshooting is included in the performance development scope of responsibilities.

The set expectation is to interface directly with development engineers and/or operations supervision to ensure applicable instructions completed correctly & according to schedule.

What You Drive at DTNA Methodically troubleshoot and identify problems with diesel/alternative powertrain systems, data acquisition systems, exhaust after-treatments, HV and LV electrical systems within the test cell or vehicle shop environment Perform mechanical powertrain system setup and fabrication as necessary to complete test setups Assemble and operate fixtures that test diesel engine components

Knowledge You Should Bring Must be currently enrolled in at one of the following accredited community colleges. Henry Ford College, Ferris State University, Washtenaw Community college. Knowledge in engine testing and/or mechanical engine assembly/disassembly Strong Mechanical skills, and ability to work with hand tools Strong computer skills (accessing/navigating service literature, work requests, MS365) Understanding of principles or detailed operation of internal combustion engines Ability to identify key items in electrical circuit diagram- measure(DMM) or calculate voltage, current, resistance
