Job Title: Maintenance Electrician

Location: Des Moines, Iowa

Status: Hiring / Full-Time

Shift Availability: 1st Shift (7 AM - 3 PM) or 3rd Shift (11 PM - 7 AM)

Overview: Join one of the leading tire manufacturing companies in the Des Moines Metro area. Currently seeking a skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our team as this position is essential for ensuring electrical systems operate at peak performance and safety.

Job Description: As a Maintenance Electrician, you will play a vital role in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures within our manufacturing facility. You will work independently and under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and Engineering Manager, using your independent judgment to solve complex electrical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and electronic issues efficiently.

  • Engineer and design electrical systems and draw schematics as needed.

  • Program and maintain PLC technology, ensuring optimal performance.

  • Conduct inspections and tests on electrical systems to ensure compliance with NEC codes and OSHA standards.

  • Locate and rectify power failures, short circuits, and other electrical-related problems.

Skills:

  • Proficient in electrical/electronic troubleshooting and repair.

  • Understanding of electrical theory, NEC codes, and OSHA standards.

  • Experience with PLC technology and programming.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical systems maintenance.

Work Environment:

  • Location: Fully on-site - tire manufacturing facility in Des Moines.

  • Dress Code: Steel-toed boots, jeans, safety glasses, and hearing protection are required on the production floor.

  • Facility Condition: Combination of older machinery from the 1940s and modern automated equipment; environment is not temperature controlled.

Shift Details:

  • 1st Shift: 7 AM - 3 PM, Monday to Friday (flexibility required)

  • 3rd Shift: 11 PM - 7 AM, Monday to Friday

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's License and Reliable transportation

  • Must have a clean record - need to pass back ground check

  • Proven experience as a maintenance electrician
