Principal Financial Group Accounting Associate, Fund Programs and Oversight in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

We’re looking for an Associate to join our Fund Programs and Oversight team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for performing day-to-day Fund Operations activities. Duties include following established procedures in a timely & accurate manner, addressing somewhat complex issues, identifying & implementing process improvements, and facilitating projects across multiple teams.

  • ETF Operational Support (ETF Website / Basket / Data Mgmt.) - Review ETF website daily to ensure we meet regulatory reporting requirements & address issues. Review ETF basket activity for proper approvals to meet SEC requirements & address issues. Review failed trade basket activity for ETFs & escalate issues to team(s) responsible for addressing. Process CIL (cash in lieu) tagging of securities for daily ETF basket creation & escalate issues. Review published ETF basket file for reasonableness & escalate issues. Support processes for Semi-Transparent ETF basket & holdings files creation. Gather ETF data for monthly reporting needs & address issues. Run monthly ETF reports & distribute."

  • Across Teams (various projects) - Lead group discussions, take accurate notes, organize project resource groups & assign action items. Examples of projects include routine fund changes, process reviews, share point maintenance, data management and sourcing documentation.

  • Securities Lending Support- Perform daily monitoring of program measurements. Perform routine troubleshooting and research. Confirm accuracy & availability of data for use in Board Reporting. Run reports to be used in Board Reporting.

  • Custody / Cash (Credit Facilities; Cash Sweep) - Perform daily monitoring of program events. Perform routine troubleshooting and research. Confirm accuracy & availability of data for use in Board Reporting. Run reports to be used in Board Reporting.

  • Generic Misc Work / Process Improvements - Perform special projects as required. Document key processes & maintain. Identify opportunities and solutions to improve workflow, procedures and processes with a focus on increasing efficiency / accuracy and eliminating pain points.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus minimum 2+ years' work experience in Fund related operations support role or related field.

  • Fund accounting experience would be very useful, but not essential.

  • Knowledge of financial services & investment related terminology required.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management, & communication skills required.

  • Must be detailed oriented, able to maintain a high degree of accuracy, meet established deadlines, and able to handle multiple tasks & prioritize effectively.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products required.

  • Able to work across teams, effectively lead group discussions, take accurate notes, & assign action items.

  • This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$71250 - $101000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role offers an in-office and hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) work arrangement in Des Moines, IA or Charlotte, NC.
