Generac Power Systems Senior Sales & Use Tax Analyst in Denver, Colorado

A Senior Sales & Use Tax Analyst prepares and files returns, maintains regulatory compliance and creates or revises procedures for preparing taxes and reporting requirements for various entities acquired by Generac Power Systems Inc . They stay updated on the latest tax laws to advise companies on changes they need to make.

The Senior Sales & Use Tax Analyst is responsible reviewing month-end close adjustments, leading sales and use tax audits, performing and documenting technical research, along with implementing new procedures & systems. Responsibilities include staying current on tax law changes and changes in the business activities of the company as well as advising management regarding strategies for minimizing tax liability.

This role also offers a unique opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the company’s financial reporting operations as you assist with the acquisition integrations, coupled with the financial rigor of a publicly traded company. The successful candidate will play an important role in the growth and evolution of the Generac Power Systems finance department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related business degree

  • 5 years tax experience in Corporate Tax or Public Accounting

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Income Tax law, ASC 740, and Sarbanes Oxley

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • Experience in technology and/or manufacturing environment

  • Master’s degree in Taxation

  • International compliance experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

45%

  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns and reconciliations (domestic & international);

  • Assist as needed on international & domestic governmental audits

25%

  • Assist with the implementation of acquired entities to ensure processes are set up to maintain day-to-day operations

15%

  • Assist with and ensure month-end close deadlines are met;

Other Duties as assigned and the following:

  • Conduct technical research and documentation, as needed;

  • Remain current on tax law changes and changes in the business activities of the company;

  • Perform other duties as assigned. Assist with tax planning

  • Monitor tax impact of accounting pronouncements

  • As needed, assist in managing tax projects and studies performed by outside consultants

  • Conduct technical research and documentation as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in Quickbooks or Avalara;

  • Proficiency in CCH or other tax research tools;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook);

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills;

  • Strong attention to detail;

  • Ability to deal with shifting priorities and deadlines.

  • Ability to implement new procedures & systems

Level of Independence: This position acts independently under the direction of the GPS Finance Director

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
