Compensation: This position falls under the City of Denver Prevailing Wage Law. The base rate is $42.98/hour, however other rates may apply depending on job assignment within the scope of the job description.
General Summary:
Install, maintain and repair sanitation units, water and gas supply lines, heating systems, and associated fixtures and appliances in the Colorado Convention Center. This position will also be required to design or review designs and inspect plumbing systems, perform diagnostics, and ensure they comply with regulatory codes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Interpret blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials
Install pipes and fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, gas, steam, air, or other liquids
Install supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation
Assemble fittings and valves for installation
Modify length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed
Use saws and pipe cutters as necessary
Install heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters
Collaborate with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing
Test plumbing systems for leaks and other problems
Analyze problem and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair
Choose plumbing materials based on budget, location, and intended uses of building
Follow health and safety standards and complies with building codes
Write report documenting the problem and summary of actions taken
Perform inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts
Prepare bids and schedules and oversees other workers, such as apprentices and helpers
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED certificate
1-3 years’ experience as a journeyman plumber
Skills and Abilities:
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools used in the plumbing trade
Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices
Ability to read and follow blueprints and rough drawings
Familiarity with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and copper
Ability to complete projects unsupervised and unassisted
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
Proficiency in basic mathematics and conversion of measurements
Operate appropriate lifts and maintain certifications required
Ability to read blueprints
Understanding and using sustainable products required
Demonstrate excellent communication (verbal and written) and inter-personal skills among all levels of staff and clientele required
Ability to speak, understand, and read standard English required
Work effectively with diverse groups of people among all levels within an organization; skill to work effectively as part of a team required
Perform role and job tasks effectively despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities required
Excellent problem solving and organizational skills required
Provide customer service in a professional considerate manner required
Excellent record of dependability and reliability required
Computer Skills:
Basic computer skills
Experience with plumbing programs
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
• Valid driver’s license
• Valid State plumbing license
