Compensation: Compensation is dependent on experience and ranges from $89,000 to $96,000/year.

General Summary:

Supervision of all Event operational facets of the Colorado Convention Center; oversight of the building event activities, equipment and assisting department managers within Event Operations, with managing assets, inventory and capital equipment plans. Assisting Director of Event Operations in all planning and implementation of building projects working closely with Facility Operations to ensure that all projects occur while minimizing impact on events in the facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operational oversight and responsibility for all Operations Department Event staff; Review and coordinate work and staffing plans for event support.

  • Provide Operations event support at pre-cons, post-cons; provide event support as Manager on duty

  • Coordinate DFD floor plan submittal and approval process as well as monitoring permits for hazardous materials, hazers, flammables and pyro.

  • Review event floorplans for compliance with building polices and protocols.

  • Review General Service Contractors and A/V event production schedules and coordinate facility projects and needs around events.

  • Review event documents for operational issues. Recommend solutions to issues identified.

  • Assist in reviews and implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance, special projects, contract negotiations and administration.

  • Assist in providing operational oversight for food service operations; Recommend solutions to issues identified.

  • Submit recommendations for operating, capital maintenance and capital equipment budgets; track budget expenditures for events in compliance with operational goals

  • Recommend goals/objectives for Operations Managers within Event Operations; Assist with Manager and operational staff trainings and development of Event Operations policies and procedures.

  • By direction coordinate Event Operations staff training.

  • Oversee, update and maintain MOD program, events calendar and MOD assignments, including scheduling

  • Oversee public safety DAS systems including two-way radio inventory – coordinate with city entities to maintain and keep system code compliant.

  • Tracking of Event Operational assets and lifetime use, replacement, and maintenance. Assist in budget review and tracking regular capital/major equipment inventories.

  • Oversee Event Operations in absence of the Director of Event Operations.

  • Track and maintain documentation/compliance of radioactive device inventory per state requirements.

  • Responsible for submitting all hazardous material inventory and maintaining records to ensure compliance with city fire code.

  • Responsible for scheduling, maintaining and tracking all annual building DFD inspections, including coordinating any required work to correct deficiencies around events.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • B.A. degree in area applicable to facility management, resource management, or the convention/entertainment industries preferred.

  • AUTO CAD experience is preferred

  • Six to eight years’ experience in facility management or event operations.

  • Industry experience preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to speak, understand, and read standard English, required;

  • Knowledge of building equipment and fire codes to draft floor plans, required

  • Knowledge of building equipment operation and event production.

  • Basic knowledge of assembly and building fire codes.

  • Computer literacy in word-processing and spread sheet programs

  • Ability to read /understand 1 line/construction drawings.

  • Work effectively with diverse groups of people among all levels within an organization; skill to work effectively as part of a team, required

  • Perform leadership role and job tasks effectively despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities

  • Demonstrate excellent communication (verbal and written) and inter-personal skills among all levels of staff and clientele

  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills

  • Provide customer service in a professional considerate manner

  • Excellent record of dependability and reliability

  • Ability to work independently; with minimal supervision

  • Exceptional coordination, planning, and leadership and inter-personal skills.

  • Clearly demonstrated ability at problem-solving

Computer Skills:

  • Sufficient computer skills including ability to create word documents and excel spreadsheets to maintain inventory and other departmental related tracking. Ability to perform training and operational audits preferred
