As a Mortgage Loan Underwriter II, you will complete a thorough analysis of loan files to determine compliance with company, investor, and government guidelines and standards. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks including evaluating the entire credit package and collateral for residential mortgage loans and ultimately ensure an "investor" quality loan product. You will be handling exception items and resolving complex issues. As the Mortgage Loan Underwriter II, you will also communicate decision (approval, suspense, denial) on loans to appropriate parties both verbally and in writing, and be available to processors and mortgage bankers for general guideline interpretations and questions on specific loan files. Additionally, you are expected to continually exhibit an understanding of automated underwriting and guidelines, check accuracy of all calculations, and meet or exceed productions goals while maintaining quality requirements. You will proactively develop relationships with key internal and external clients, gaining recognition as a Residential Banking team resource, build a great rapport with clients and fellow associates, and treat others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position. All associates are expected to maintain current knowledge and consistent compliance with regulations and bank policies and procedures related to the position, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements. Minimum Requirements: To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience. 5+ years of mortgage industry experience 3+ years underwriting experience Desired Qualifications: To be considered an ideal candidate, you should possess some of the following qualifications: Bachelor's degree 5+ years of underwriting experience. FHA-DE and VA-SAR required Experience with Texas equity lending Skills and Abilities:Below is a general list of desired skills and abilities; this is not an exhaustive list. Thorough grasp of state and federal regulations is required as well as a solid understanding of: HMDA, Regulation Z, Regulation B; the FHLMC, FNMA, FHA rules and processes Thorough understanding and working knowledge of Texas Equity loan regulations, as well as TDHCA, Texas Vet, and TSAHC bond programs Proficiency with computer systems including MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Internet Browsers Ability to act as FHA/DE, and VA/SAR Ability to prioritize competing demands and effectively manage mult ple tasks and/or projects. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to read reports, correspondence and procedures, speak clearly to clients and associates. Must be able to deal with ambiguity, think critically, solve problems creatively, plan and meet deadlines, demonstrate strong sense of personal accountability. Strong analytical ability to synthesize and communicate complex information. Organization skills with the ability to utilize time efficiently.
