The Global Central Reliability Maintenance Engineering team is seeking an Early Lifecycle Manager (ELM) to work closely with the development and deployment of new technology. The position will focus on the early life cycle management of equipment in the entire network (EU/NA), which may other locations (such as Singapore, Australia and Japan), and will have a strong focus on our core principles of innovation, bias for action, ownership and insist on the highest standards.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Global RME team and will be the RME point of contact for the New Tech Introduction team, partnering with internal and external suppliers to develop effective deployment plans. Focusing on reliability and maintainability, they are responsible for leading RME processes to support innovation and drive design improvements in emergent technology from prototype through to deployment. Constantly aiming for safety, better equipment uptime, efficiency, cost management, quality, customer satisfaction, and ultimately profitability within Amazon. They will work closely with technology developers, the central RME team and operational sites to deliver robust equipment to our network.

Key job responsibilities

Key activities for this position will include:

Working closely with our R&D teams to improve equipment through design reviews, effective feedback of operational performance.

Implementation and review of base line Planned Maintenance (PMs) program.

Ensuring that new technology is implemented in APM (CMMS tool) from Day 1.

Supporting the development of initial training packages for the RME team for new equipment.

Specifying and coordinating standards and deliverables for new equipment being turned over to RME.

Understanding the anticipated life cycle cost based on initial design and planned design improvements.

Providing inputs into routine reports for communication at a Senior level.

About the team

The ELM AR NTI team, manages the introduction of new equipment into the maintenance engineering teams portfolio. We aim to improve the reliability and maintainability of new equipment being introduced into our fulfillment network.

Basic Qualifications

  • Established Project Manager at leadership level

  • Ability to lead others in a technical role and interact with all levels of management

  • Hands-on experience in material handling systems (MHS) installation, operation and maintenance

  • Experience and knowledge of modern CMMS and preventive/predictive maintenance techniques

  • Familiarity with analytical techniques

  • Experience in budget management including ROI analysis to build complex business cases

  • Experience teaching and mentoring others

  • Experience working on projects across multiple sites.

  • Experience using MS Office

  • Ability to review and manipulate data in Excel across multiple data sources.

  • Willing to travel up to 50% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level

  • Degree in mechanical / electrical engineering or equivalent

  • Strong working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Established project manager at a leadership level on multi-site projects.

  • Experience of technical program management.

  • MBA, advanced degrees, and/or Black Belt certification(s).

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $68,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $126,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
