Description of Job

This position provides direct delivery ofColorado State Employee Assistance Program (https://cseap.colorado.gov/) (CSEAP) services, in accordance with Department of Personnel & Administration (DPA) and CSEAP mission and values, and consistent with behavioral health professions’ ethics and standards. This includes addressing the needs of a diverse population by understanding and responding in a culturally responsive manner. This hybrid-eligible position provides in-person counseling in our Denver office and telehealth counseling statewide.

A summary of the duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Serve as a primary provider of clinical counseling services to state employees. Counseling services are provided to individuals (primarily), as well as families and couples.

  • As assigned, provides counseling services (to individuals, couples, families) at pop-up locations throughout the state.

  • As assigned, provides professional coaching to state employees, response to adverse workplace events including grief response, periodic wellbeing webinars or in-person presentations.

  • Maintain availability to the CSEAP team for regularly scheduled and as-needed consultation including assistance on counseling cases and availability for team meetings. Maintain professional expertise in EAP services and appropriate specialty areas including areas of counseling licensure. Maintain all records in accordance with CSEAP, HIPAA and ethical standards.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

*Education and Experience:

Current, valid licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC) or valid licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) , AND at least (1) oneyear of experience as a licensed clinical social worker or licensed professional counselor

OR

Current, valid licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) will substitute for the Professional Counseling license (LPC) or the Clinical Social Worker license (LCSW), AND experience as a licensed marriage and family therapist will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

You must provide your license information at the time of application.

The exceptional candidate will possess the proven ability or accomplishment in the following preferred qualifications:

  • 3+ years providing counseling to individuals, couples and families.

  • Experience responding to high acuity cases including suicidality.

  • Experience working in an EAP setting and providing various EAP-relevant services including response to adverse workplace events.

  • Experience working with diverse populations including providing bilingual support and/or culturally competent services.

Conditions of Employment:

  • A pre-employment criminal background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.

  • Travel as needed within the state of Colorado including ability to travel unexpectedly between CSEAP field offices and state agencies.

    Appeal Rights:

    An applicant who has been removed from an employment list or removed from consideration during the selection process may request a review by the State Personnel Director.

    As an applicant directly affected by the results of the selection or comparative analysis process, you may file a written appeal with the State Personnel Director.

    Review of the completed, signed and submitted appeal will be timely on the basis of written material submitted by you, using the official appeal form signed by you or your representative. This form must be completed and delivered to the State Personnel Board by email at dpa_state.personnelboard@state.co.us within ten (10) calendar days from your receipt of notice or acknowledgement of the Department’s action.
