This position is responsible for leading and supervising from line staff, managing the Extra Board, maintaining operator records and supplies. This position supports enforcement of the DOT drug and alcohol policy. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: ESSENTIAL: Recruits staff to include interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, and counseling to ensure consistent application of Employee Guidelines, processes, and procedures. Leads, directs and holds employees accountable for performance of their responsibilities. Performs daily transportation deployment of the bus fleet as well as assigned during special events, winter operations and emergencies to minimize service disruptions. Organizes and prioritizes activities ensuring details are accurate. Fills daily bus assignments to ensure excellent customer service with resources that are available. Administers extra board procedures, Run Board, collective bargaining agreement and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Maintains hours of service in compliance of FMCSR. Prepares bus operator pay sheets for Payroll. Provides internal customer service to bus operators via in-person and telephone contact. Prepares Supervisor's Preliminary Report of worker's compensation injuries for bus operators and issues medical passes. Inspects facility for safety hazards. Operates the division 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Records inventory Daily Adjustment Sheets and other records into computer maintains supply of reports, accident packets and additional department forms. Distributes flyers and other information to operators. Inventories, orders and stocks shelves with passenger schedules; stocks transfers. OTHER: All job-related duties as assigned. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. QUALIFICATIONS (Internal Candidates): High School diploma or equivalent. One-year experience in transportation, logistics, or commercial driving environment. Demonstrated acceptable performance as an RTD employee over the past twelve months. - No chargeable safety infractions. - Not more than three absence occurrences according to the District's Attendance Policy FML excluded. - Maximum of ten days absence (extenuating circumstances will be reviewed). - No warning letters in the employee file. - No disciplinary action resulting in unpaid suspension. - Not more than four miscellaneous points. Knowledge of RTD policies and procedures as they relate to absences and staffing requirements. Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Bus Operator Manual (Trailblazer), Collective Bargaining Agreement. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details. Ability to use good judgment. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to work various shifts and locations, as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS(External Candidates): High School diploma or equivalent. One-year experience in transportation, logistics, or commercial driving environment. Knowledge of the FMCSR's related to passenger carrying vehicles preferred. Experience in a setting with bargaining units and with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details. Ability to use good judgment. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to work various shifts and locations, as assigned.
