Who are we looking for?

We have a global team spanning different geographical sites. We are looking for a technical leader who will manage one of our teams in the US and also be hands on as part of our worldwide Oracle Analytics Service Excellence (OASE) DevOps team help support our government customer services.

This role is responsible to partner with the development teams within Oracle Analytics to build, operate, support and improve uptime of the services offered (Oracle Analytics Services) 24x7. Prior experience in mentoring and managing a DevOps team supporting a complex cloud product is essential per-requisites for you to be successful in this role. The manager will design and manage continuous improvement programs and deliverables. The following are the essential responsibilities of this role. It is a constantly evolving role with increased responsibilities as the business evolves.

  • Manage a team of DevOps experts (Software engineering, 5+ individuals).

  • Align work with the OASE team members all over the globe.

  • Provide the team members mentoring and guidance on their career growth.

  • Ensure the timely execution of critical operational activities that span OASE.

  • Continuously guide the team in building innovative best practices and solutions using the best of breed technologies that has pervasive impact on all of Oracle Analytics Cloud.

  • Work closely with the Development, Program Management, Support teams, and other Oracle Analytics organization leaders and teams to support and deliver key programs/services for our customers, driving to effective solutions to escalations without negative impact.

  • Develop professional relationships at all levels driving cultural change to align managed services delivery with our cloud delivery principles and values.

  • Lead and drive technical discussions with peers, engineers, architects and leadership to resolve customer escalations on product issues.

  • Demonstrate and successfully deliver on business goals and metrics, influencing direct team and peer teams to achieve and go over and above part of large organization.

Responsibilities

Ideal Experience

Experience running a team responsible for DevOps activities including service upgrades, runbook creation, and process automation, meeting key Metrics.

Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of a large organization from SVPs to individual engineers, Development, product managers, and program managers

Personal experience having launched or supported a complex program or project with infrastructure and software components.

A record of building strong collaborative relationships across organizational boundaries (e.g. Cloud Services, Development, product, support teams).

Proven capacity to build and sustain a high-performing software engineering team operating at various scales and business demands.

Perform DevOps activities to support customers, engineers, and processes through our release cycles as well as production

Provide full stack support to Oracle Analytics Service including; Become expert in Analytic services, to prevent, resolve customer issues effectively and prevent regressions and repeats

Work with various teams to take ownership of and resolve service failure/outages

Monitor metrics and develop ways to improve the CI and CD tools utilized by the team

Mentor and train other engineers and seek to continually improve processes

Participate in 24 x 7 DevOps model with on call rotations for daytime, nighttime, and weekends

What You Need to Have

A BS or MS in Compute Science, or equivalent

US Government security clearance Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph

  • A BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent

  • Providing cloud networking, infrastructure, and service support, configuration, operations, tools, and processes

  • Understand networking, and TCP/IP fundamentals and services such as DNS, HTTP, etc.

  • Linux/Unix system administration including system level knowledge of Linux on OCI Gen 2, creating and executing scripts

  • Experience developing & operating cloud services or large distributed applications in production

  • Methodical approaches to troubleshooting and solving complex technical problems, reverse engineering existing applications

  • Producing documentation in support of developed work (KBs, run books, help guides)

  • Utilizing agile methodologies

  • Communicating effectively in a team environment

  • Working with remote and global teams

  • Working independently and in a self-directed manner

  • Able to work extended week day and week-end shifts as required for on-call, after hours upgrades, and other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following attributes:

  • US Government security clearance Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph

  • Experience supporting multiple cloud services, troubleshooting of customer requirements and product capability, and reporting root cause for product fixes

  • Knowledge of Oracle Analytics server, BI publisher, Oracle Analytics Cloud; Oracle database, Oracle Autonomous DB, MySQL (experience with MS SQL and/or NoSQL is a plus)

  • 2+ years of experience of running large scale customer facing Web Applications

  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or AWS, Azure, GCP compute, storage, and network operational experience

  • Programming and scripting languages (Python, Ansible, bash, Java Script - additional experience with PHP, Groovy, Java, and/or Go is a plus)

  • Using CI/CD scripting tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef

  • Experience in Cloud Native application development using Containers and orchestration ( Kubernetes) independently scalable micro-services

  • Issue tracking and collaboration (Jira and Confluence)

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $109,200 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
