JOB SUMMARY

The Technical Director of America's Data Center Solutions team is responsible for providing strategic technical excellence to our Business Units. This role works with the Global Technical Director and their global Technical Director peers to align and prioritize the implementation of the DCS (Data Center Solutions) technical strategic roadmap. They drive standardization of best practices, champion technical solutions, and promote innovation, sustainability, and ESG across our data center network. Their role includes setting the Divisional Technical Strategy, leading the Technical Team in developing technical processes, assisting with site compliance processes, mentoring, and growing the engineering knowledge of the CFMs, AGMs, Technical Managers, Engineers, and Technicians in the business units. They also ensure operational alignment and knowledge sharing across the Americas region and promote the correct implementation of rules and procedures for safe working.

Purpose of the Job

The goal is to maintain excellent technical standards and compliance for the DCS AMS Region by implementing asset management strategies, conducting technical compliance updates and reviews, and proactively managing risks to ensure uninterrupted operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

? Promote and advance the Critical Environment & Risk Management model (CERM) and standards to ensure efficient and safe operation and maintenance of engineering systems to achieve 100% plant availability and uptime.

? Facilitate the implementation, adoption, and integration of the Critical Environment & Risk Management (CERM) model processes into daily operations.

? Establish risk management protocols to ensure uninterrupted operations.

? Establish Incident Management protocols including reporting, Root Cause Analysis, mitigation/elimination plans, and lessons learned.

? Collaborate with Divisional Technical Managers to ensure that all contracts meet their technical statutory requirements while providing technical engineering support to account teams. ? Ensure that all contracts have proper management of critical spares.

? Create and lead a technical forum, acting as a technical authority to provide guidance and support to maintenance teams as needed.

? Govern the interface between projects and operations through the technical teams.

? Review, maintain, and/or create Technical Standards Documentation (MOP, SOP, EOP, BCP, PM, etc.).

? Conduct Technical Needs Assessments, produce gap analysis reports, and develop training plans.

? Oversee the management and delivery of Essential Maintenance Periods as defined in the contract scope.

? Conduct regular emergency response simulations and ensure action plans are in place for potential serious incidents worldwide. Lead Divisional Technical Directors in conducting Root Cause Analysis and investigative procedures.

? Act as the primary interface with clients, specifically client technical staff, on technical matters ? Contribute positively to enhancing our technical capability, standards, and operational delivery on contracts, playing a crucial role in supporting the vision and pursuit of engineering excellence.

? Ensure appropriate training is identified and implemented for HV switching.

? Ensure compliance with all statutory laws across all regions, promptly identifying and communicating any changes.

? Supports business unit leadership by conducting site visits as a technical expert, producing reports on initial visits, identifying technical risks, advising on contract improvements, and promoting technical excellence.

? Mentors business unit technical staff to ensure adherence to engineering and operational best practices.

? Supports Technical and Operations staff in incident investigations and root cause analysis, reviewing data and sharing Lessons Learned documents.

? Ensures operational compliance across business units to meet service‐level standards. ? Supports the transition team efforts for new clients.

? Conducts design reviews of existing systems for clients and business unit technical staff, offering system resilience and energy reduction options.

? Assists the Business Development teams as a technical subject matter expert during discussions with prospects.

? Performs any other duties assigned by the organization.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of the Director includes overseeing the planning, organization, and controls for a major functional area or department. This role may have a mix of direct reports and matrix reports. They have the authority to approve recommendations from subordinates regarding staff recruitment, selection, promotion, corrective action, and termination. They also provide recommendations for their direct reports to the next level of management for review and approval.

The Director monitors staffing levels and provides reports on the utilization and deployment of human resources. They provide leadership and support to staff in areas such as staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, performance measurement, appraisal, and retention. The Director sets an example by demonstrating behaviors that align with the company's values.

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / BACKGROUND

? Experience as a Technical Director within a technical environment. Knowledge of data centers or large server rooms, critical M&E systems, and complex HV and LV systems.

? High level of competency and understanding of Critical Environment electrical infrastructures. ? Comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems and plant operations within Building Services and Critical Environments.

? Up-to-date technical knowledge of Approved Codes of Practice, fire and environmental control measures, building control requirements, High Voltage, Refrigeration and QHSE.

? Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four‐year college or university and a minimum of eight to twelve years of related experience and/or training, including five years of experience at the management level.

? Degree-level qualification in mechanical and electrical engineering is highly desirable. ? Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a related environment (Data Centers of Critical Engineering Environments)

? Qualifications in Reliability Engineering is desirable.

? Have a positive and proactive approach to work and are able to work own initiative and as part of a large account team.

? Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

? Robust, assertive, and dynamic attitude towards achieving results.

? Ability to lead change programs to implement technical best practice

? Ability to think strategically and put strategy into practice

? Contractually astute and able to work within the confines of contractual requirements

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 8-12 years of proven experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.

  • Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention is preferred.

  • Ability to lead the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations, and handle problems

  • Leadership skills to set, manage and achieve targets with a direct impact on multiple department results within a function.

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

  • Expert organizational skills and an advanced inquisitive attitude.

  • Experience preferred in developing and managing organizational budgets

The minimum salary for the Data Center Technical Director roles is $180,000and the maximum salary is $220,000 annually The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
