Job Summary:
The CytoLab Experimental Research Professional will be a vital part of the CytoLab team's success in innovative medical research. This team member will be trained to perform wet lab experiments in translational research science and assist with routine laboratory tasks. Specifically, they will work on projects focused on neurology and immune system research, working with human cells and tissues using advanced cytometry and imaging techniques. The required training will be provided on-the-job by our team members. We are seeking an individual who will primarily work at the bench and will interface with the data science team. Our ideal candidate is excited to learn new skills and has had recent course work in a premedical or STEM field.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform Research Experiments
Establish and maintain regular cell culture of mammalian cell lines for ongoing experimental use, including long-term in vitro assays.
Work with investigators at the clinical translational interface including preparation of human blood and tissue samples into single-cell suspensions and cryopreservation in accordance with HIPAA and institutional guidelines.
Perform time-sensitive experiments including, but not limited to, time courses, drug dilutions, antibody titrations, and live cell stimulations.
Conduct regular lab experiments using advanced high-dimensional cytometry and imaging techniques, as well as fluorescent cell barcoding.
Regularly update written protocols and lab notebooks to record and communicate experiments performed.
Execute Routine Lab Tasks
Conduct biohazardous waste disposal, safety procedures, and laboratory equipment maintenance to support a clean and safe research environment, in compliance with CU Biosafety guidelines.
Maintain regular inventories of laboratory supplies and samples.
Order laboratory supplies as needed and maintain working stocks of custom in house reagents.
Communicate Data Procedures, Results, and Next Steps
Perform basic data quality checks on experimental data collected.
Troubleshoot issues in experimental results as needed, with assistance of supervisor.
Present experiments performed and data collected to team members at regular internal meetings.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Denver, CO.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in premedical, biological science, chemistry, engineering, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in a biology, chemistry, engineering, or medical research laboratory is highly desirable
Hands-on experience with cell culture, tissue preparation, and cryopreservation.
Coursework focused on cell biology and/or medicine, especially neurology or the immune system.
Coursework in statistics, computational biology, data science, or AI in human health.
Experience working effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to function independently while working with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds within a collaborative organization.
Ability to effectively manage time, resources, and responsibilities in accomplishing projects and long-term goals of the team.
Desire to troubleshoot and overcome experimental obstacles with systematic persistence
Other required skills include creativity, excellent communication (written and oral) skills, strong math and quantitative skills, and the ability to think critically about expected and received outcomes., and visual presentation skills.
Ability to effectively present data and experimental results to supervisor and other team members.
Ability to establish and maintain effective, respectful working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting research findings and collaborating with team members.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in experimental procedures independently, and to seek assistance when needed.
Exceptional attention to detail in maintaining laboratory protocols and records.
Strong organizational skills for managing lab inventories and administrative tasks.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE $45,000-$57,240
