The Asphalt Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing asphalt paving projects from start to finish. This role ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in asphalt paving, strong leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate crews, materials, and equipment efficiently.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Supervise and manage daily field operations for asphalt paving projects. Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and crews to ensure work is performed efficiently and per project specifications. Oversee material deliveries, equipment usage, and crew assignments to optimize productivity. Monitor project progress, quality control, and safety compliance. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies. Review and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications. Address and resolve any on-site challenges or unexpected issues. Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce safety protocols. Track project costs, labor hours, and equipment usage to maintain budget control. Maintain effective communication with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to crew members. Ensure all required project documentation and reports are completed accurately and on time.
Qualifications (Experience, Education & Certifications, Key Attributes):

Minimum of 5+ years of experience in asphalt paving and construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. In-depth knowledge of asphalt materials, paving techniques, and industry best practices. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Experience in coordinating with engineers, inspectors, and project stakeholders. Proficiency in construction scheduling and budgeting. Working knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA) and best practices in construction. Proficient in using construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites as needed. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working on large-scale asphalt paving projects. Familiarity with GPS paving and automated grade control systems. CDL or other relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, MOT).
