Master Data Specialist

Position Summary:

The Master Data Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of master data across the organization. This role involves working closely with different departments to create, manage, and maintain master data related to business partners, items, etc. to support the company's business operations and decision-making.

Responsibilities:

Master Data Management

  • Create, maintain, and update master data records in company's ERP system (business partners, items, etc.).
  • Ensure master data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards and policies.
  • Monitor and correct discrepancies in master data and implement measures to prevent recurring issues.

Data Quality and Governance

  • Develop and implement data quality processes, controls, and standards.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to establish and maintain data governance frameworks.
  • Perform regular audits and validations of master data to identify and resolve data integrity issues.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with business units such as finance, procurement, sales, and operations to gather data requirements and implement master data changes.
  • Provide training and support to other departments regarding data-related processes, workflows, and best practices.
  • Serve as a liaison between IT and business users to facilitate data management.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Generate data quality reports and provide insights into trends, quality issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in developing metrics for data quality and ensuring adherence to those standards.

System Implementation and Optimization

  • Assist in the design and implementation of master data management processes and workflows during ERP implementations or system upgrades.
  • Contribute to the optimization of data management tools and workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field. Or a combination of experience and education in lieu of a degree.
  • Formal education or 3+ years of experience in master data management or related roles, preferably within an ERP environment (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of master data domains such asbusiness partners, items, etc.
  • Experience with data management tools and ERP systems.
  • Proficiency i Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI or another reporting tool.
  • Knowledge of data governance best practices and data quality principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Analytical thinking and the ability to use data insights to drive business decisions.

The employee is occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
