Job Description The Sonoco internship program is designed to \"test the waters\" of working in the manufacturing and packaging industry. You will spend your summer working in a specific division on impactful projects, establishing an understanding of Sonoco\'s culture and processes, as well as developing a business mindset. The program is a blend of hands-on experiences and opportunities. Throughout the program you can expect to gain a better understanding of your future potential at Sonoco through valuable project work. Our internship program is designed to be a step towards joining the Emerging Leaders Program or other entry level positions upon graduation. With approximately 150 locations in 34 states, your internship could be anywhere. We ask that all interns be open to relocation for the summer. Position Description: * Involvement in mechanical/electrical projects and installations, working closely with plant millwrights, electricians, and mechanics. * Participate in manufacturing process improvements and troubleshooting production equipment in a manufacturing environment. * Involvement in computer integrated manufacturing and information systems projects including automation, robotics, and process/inventory control. * Assist in identification of component specifications; identify vendors, and parts/systems procurement. Utilize AutoCAD and Solidworks to draft machine parts, assemblies, and layouts and update existing engineering drawings. * Responsible for writing procedures, assembling charts, diagrams, and directions for technical tasks * Support the maintenance department planning functions utilizing data analysis and CMMS * Assist in design and programming of manufacturing control systems.
