Deputy Sheriff- Patrol: Patrol Deputies are responsible for protection of life and property while enforcing laws within Defiance County. Road patrol deputies are tasked with deescalating situations that can present a personal danger to themselves or the public.

The applicant selected for the position must be able to work all shifts, holidays and weekends as well as completing trainings as required. Lateral transfers will be considered. Salary range for this position is $52,228.80- $68,640.00 per year.

The minimum qualifications for this position include:

• Certified as a peace officer in the State of Ohio

• 21 years of age

• Possess a valid State of Ohio driver's license

• No convictions involving moral turpitude or charges of violence

The acceptable candidate will have the ability to:

• Maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives or other agencies and organizations and members of the community.

• Adhere to department professional and ethical standards of conduct

• Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing

• Operate department issued firearms, safety equipment, vehicles, radios, computers, standard office equipment, restraint and safety gear, and other special equipment as necessary
