SHIPPING/RECEIVING SUPERVISOR

Job Description:

Oversee the shipment or receipt of outgoing or incoming materials, parts, or products. Study shipping and receiving processes for effectiveness. Suggest improvements to distribution procedures, and act to improve timeliness or reduce costs. Document shipping or receiving information. Complete reports for management.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, testing, and shipping products or materials.
  • Issue shipping instructions and provide routing information to ensure that delivery times and locations are coordinated.
  • Inspect physical conditions of warehouses, vehicle fleets, or equipment and order testing, maintenance, repairs, or replacements.
  • Schedule or monitor air or surface pickup, delivery, or distribution of products or materials.
  • Packing items for shipment, verifying the contents of received packages, monitoring shipping/receiving employees, and ordering supplies.
  • Ensure timely unloading of inbound material to avoid any detention charges.
  • Tracks traces, and updates the status of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Maintains and supervises the accurate log sheet of daily moves, scanning inventory, and counting accurately.
  • Driving forklift and lifting up to 50 lbs., as needed.
  • Using appropriate material handling for each job.

Shipping/Receiving Qualifications/Skills:

  • Great communication skills, to talk with employees, vendors, drivers, and management.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, or the shipping/receiving team, to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Motivating, developing, and directing shipping/receiving team.

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in automotive manufacturing as shipping/receiving manager.
  • Forklift Certification.
