State of Montana Trainer - Welding Instructor in Deer Lodge, Montana

TRAINER – WELDING INSTRUCTOR EDUCATION SERVICED BUREAU DEER LODGE, MT MISSION - *Montana Department of Corrections is creating a safer Montana through Accountability, Rehabilitation and Empowerment. If you want to work making positive changes in the community the Montana Department of Corrections is the place for you! *JOB OVERVIEW - *Montana State Prison is a multi-classification correctional institution for adult male felons. This position is responsible for the supervision and training of the inmate work force for career opportunities in the Metals Technology field, which includes but is not limited to, Welding, Machine Tool Operation, Metal Fabrication, Mechanical Drawing, Blueprint Reading, tool use and safety, general shop and work area safety. The training by the incumbent provides consistent inmate staffing for the OJT part of the program at the Motor Vehicle Maintenance (MVM) Shop. American Welding Society AWS standards will be used so that current welding practices are taught. The position will: * Be responsible for classroom instruction and lab activities in AWS current industry procedures, repair and maintenance standards and the support work required of an instructor in a correctional institution. * Coordinate training efforts, ensuring classes are scheduled, attendees are tracked, and charges are billed. * Prepare training environment and ensure necessary materials are available. * Researches, evaluates, and prepares recommendations on curricula, instructional methods, and materials to ensure that current ideas, technologies, and best practices are being presented and implemented within the training curriculum. * Trains a variety of students, employees, or attendees with differing learning styles and needs. * Consult with agency leaders and work teams to determine present and future organizational needs. * Consult with agency management concerning individual or unique learning and development improvement needs. * Develop or revise materials to achieve training goals. * Evaluate success of training and development curriculum, adjusting content as needed. * Develop and administer projects, programs, and goals that support the division’s workplan. The hourly rate of this position will increase by $1.50 per hour or 4% whichever is greater starting July 1, 2024, in accordance with HB13. *REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS – *State of Montana Application /Applications submitted without required materials may not be considered./ Materials submitted but not requested may not be considered in the selection process.
