Job Summary and Qualifications

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

What you will do in this role:

  • Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.

  • Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.

  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.

  • Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.

  • Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Texas State RN license or compact license required.

  • Associate Degree required, or Bachelors Degree preferred.

  • Advanced Certification encouraged.

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support by AHS or ARC required.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support by AHS or ARC required.

  • EMR: Allscripts experience preferred.

  • 1-year of PCU experience required.

  • All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period (August 25th - April 5th).

  • Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.

  • Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4-week schedule period.

  • During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).

  • Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital.

  • Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses.

  • Registered Nurses, who are in the Seasonal program, will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.

  • Current FT/PT & PRN Level 3 employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program for 2024-2025 with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year.

  • Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program.

  • Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department.
