The Trainer, under minimal supervision, will train, coordinate, and facilitate the on-the-job training for new hires and FAME technicians. The trainer supports new employees during their probatory period and subsequence onboarding and development. The trainer will support new employee training and development thru various training methods, including on-the-job coaching, mentorship programs, and classroom training. Additionally, this position will provide guidance and mentoring to other maintenance technicians within the facility.

How You'll Create Possibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

  • As a technical resource for the maintenance department assist with troubleshooting and performing repairs on equipment, machines and their controls.

  • Maintain training files on new hires and employees as well as training summary reports.

  • Provide evaluation of technicians in online Learning System (DevelopU)

  • Support and coordinate various maintenance training programs within Learning System.

  • Trainer will provide assistance and support for any maintenance team member’s progression and completion of the DPO/GEA required training programs (such as safety and PSM).

  • Spend time in plant verifying team members’ hands-on training and comprehension.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and improve hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical equipment.

  • Ensure adequate space and/or equipment for training; ensure that all materials are up-to-date and reflect the most current and relevant information.

  • Provide quick response to maintenance requests and calls from maintenance leadership and manufacturing operations teams.

  • Preform preventive maintenance.

  • Identify ancillary problems and return to make proper repairs.

  • Provide clean, well-organized training.

  • Deeply involved in reliability centered maintenance.

  • Develop training for existing and new technologies.

  • Continual development of training curriculum specific to plant needs.

  • Follow safe work methods and procedures to avoid injury to self and co-workers or damage to company property, including use of all required personal protective equipment, following safety precautions (e.g. LOTO), ensuring machine guards, etc.

  • Follow proper housekeeping standards to ensure clean and organized maintenance work areas.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical field or similar with minimum 10 years of experience in electrical maintenance in an industrial/manufacturing environment, OR

  • Equivalent trade school certification/license with minimum 10 years of experience in the electrical field with experience in a manufacturing environment, OR

  • Technical training with military service with at least 10 years' experience in maintenance in an industrial/manufacturing environment.

  • Must possess excellent electrical skills, to include: PLC’s, VFD’s, Servo’s remote I/O, robots, profibus, profinet, motor circuit wiring, controls wiring, AC/DC circuits. Troubleshooting of all components in 480V, 240V, 120V, and low volt DC electrical controls.

  • Must have the ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.

  • Must have demonstrated work experience with AC/DC power and process logic controllers (PLC) used in manufacturing, and the ability to build and install a PLC into a machine that supports production.

  • Solid verbal/written communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Advanced computer skills – high proficiency in Microsoft office products with the ability to grasp new systems quickly.

  • Must be able to convey and impart information to others to teach and train.

  • Must be team oriented and work well with others.

  • High initiative, self-starter, proactive, dedicated, results oriented.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and root cause analysis with demonstrated ability to analyze and repair automation equipment.

  • Proven ability to work with these factors:

  • Perform work in a loud/noisy environment

  • Change shifts and work overtime and weekends, as required

  • Work with parts/equipment which may be hot, cold, and/or wet

  • Work outside in all weather conditions and work at heights

  • Use a wide range of powered tools and hand tools and vibratory tools/equipment

  • Operate motorized equipment, including but not limited to scissor lifts, JLGs, fork trucks, etc.

  • Must be capable of attaining annual medical clearance for respirator usage as well as clearance for all areas of the plant

  • Perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation, including, but not limited to:

  • Intermittently sit or stand with frequent walking.

  • Occasionally lift or move component parts up to 50 lbs.

  • Pushing/pulling up to 35 lbs.

  • Use hands to handle or feel parts - grasp, squeeze, pinch, manual dexterity.

  • Reach with hands and arms, stoop, twist, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist or crawl.

  • Talk and hear, use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.

  • May be exposed to outside weather conditions prevalent at the time.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.

  • Occasionally exposed to wet and /or humid conditions; high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, foam rooms and caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock, and vibration .

What You'll Bring to Our Team

Desired Characteristics:

  • Technical certifications a strong plus.

  • Experience working with Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Analog and digital AC/DC drive systems, pneumatic/hydraulic systems.

  • Mechanical aptitude – ability to understand basic mechanical concepts and relationships.
