GE Appliances, a Haier company, is looking for highly motivated safety or environmental students to join our Supply Chain/ Manufacturing internship program. Jumpstart your future in an intern program that will help you uncover your potential for leadership, develop your skills, and follow your interest in manufacturing and operations. You will gain real-world manufacturing experience, and have the unique opportunity to participate on committees focusing on recycling, volunteerism, & social events.

How You'll Create Possibilities

HOW YOU'LL CREATE POSSIBILITIES

This position will work in the Decatur GE Appliances operations.

This internship is located in Decatur, AL. Please note housing and relocation assistance is currently unavailable. The EHS Intern assignment is 3 - 4 months in duration and is a full-time on-site internship. Assignments are in a variety of disciplines within environmental, health, and safety. You will work in a team environment to complete projects and/or duties designated by the EHS Director. Assignments may include:

  • Set goals & objectives for your intern assignment

  • Use initiative to find and develop process improvements

  • Assist EHS team with the development and execution of projects like JSA (Job Safety Analysis), LOTO (lock-out tag-out), Ergo assessments, etc.

  • Develop and demonstrate an analytical approach to problem-solving

  • Support and assist in audit processes and systems (EHS Management Audits, OSHA VPP, etc.)

  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently

  • Set regular feedback sessions with your assignment leader

  • Provide support in other EHS projects, tasks, needs, and initiatives

What You'll Bring to Our Team

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO OUR TEAM

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or better in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Sciences or similar degree program

  • Must be actively enrolled and be in good academic standing in an accredited school or university pursuing a degree in one of the above majors

  • Cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0/4.0

  • Be a self-starter and have the ability to handle multiple tasks/projects

  • Advanced skill set in various MS Office applications

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion while maintaining a high level of professionalism

  • Able to work a minimum of 36 hrs. per week

  • Due to the nature of this position, the candidate must be local to Decatur or the surrounding area. This position is not eligible for housing & relocation benefits.

  • Reliable transportation to and from work daily is required

  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States both now and in the future; GE Appliances will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position

  • Prior intern, co-op, or research experience

  • Strong analytical and technical skills

  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities

  • Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom
