This role is specifically within our Infrastructure, Platform, & DevOps portion of our Product Development (PD) Platform Operations team. This group maintains all aspects of our deployed Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) platform here within Ford Motor Company.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Platform Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE platform infrastructure here within Ford. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies, infrastructure components, and automation tools, with a focus on ensuring the high availability, performance, and security of our platform. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and possess advanced knowledge of various infrastructure components, including servers, VMs, networking, routing protocols, load balancing, and application/database servers.
Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Design & Implementation: Design, build, and maintain the 3DEXPERIENCE platform infrastructure on-premise, in GCP, leveraging infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible
Automation: Develop and maintain automated scripts and processes for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment using Terraform and Ansible
Cloud Management: Manage and monitor GCP resources, ensuring optimal performance, cost efficiency, and security. This includes managing Compute Engine, VPC, ILBs/EGLBS/UIG/MIGs, storage, CloudSQL and other GCP services
Application Support: Provide technical support for the 3DEXPERIENCE platform applications, including troubleshooting performance issues, resolving application errors, and collaborating with application developers. This includes deep understanding of Linux, JVM, Tomcat, Apache, and HAProxy
Security: Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect the 3DX platform infrastructure and applications from threats and vulnerabilities
Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, identifying and resolving bottlenecks
Troubleshooting & Incident Management: Respond to and resolve infrastructure and application incidents, providing timely and effective solutions
Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure architecture, configurations, and processes.
Collaboration: Collaborate with other engineering teams, including application developers, database administrators, and security engineers.
Innovation: Research and evaluate new technologies and tools to improve the efficiency and scalability of the 3DX platform infrastructure
Qualifications:
Preferred Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Or, related experience.
7+ years of experience as a Platform Engineer or similar role, with a strong focus on cloud, infrastructure, and DevOps
Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Networking, Cloud Load Balancing, and other relevant services
Expert-level proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, specifically Terraform and Ansible
Advanced understanding of server and virtualization technologies, including VMs, containers, and serverless computing
Deep understanding of networking concepts, including routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancing
Advanced knowledge of Java Virtual Machines (JVMs), Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, and HAProxy
Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python)
Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
Strong understanding of security best practices and principles
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
