Henry Ford Academy is a college prep high school (grades 9-12) located inside the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation & Greenfield Village and surrounded by the campus of Ford Motor Company. Students come from districts within Wayne County, as well as private, parochial, and home schools. The model partnership focuses some of the best thinking from the business, non-profit, and public education worlds toward the common goal of building a school that prepares students for life in the 21st century.

The Senior Manager of Finance and Operations leads the financial and operational functions of a public high school of approximately 500 students, located in The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. The Henry Ford Academy is a partnership between Ford Motor Company, The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation and Wayne RESA.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of school budgets, grants, and related financial programs, while also participating in operations that directly impact students. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, a high degree of professionalism, tact, and confidentiality, and an ability to manage a wide range of responsibilities that support both the financial health of the school and the success of its students.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Manages the school's overall financial operations including development and maintenance of the annual budget.

• Manages and prepares financial statements, presentations and reports in collaboration with The Henry Ford Museum finance team in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and school policy.

• Manages and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations related to a school's operation.

• Manages the school's $6,000,000 budget, including accurate annual and long-range budgets, forecasting, financial accounting, timely preparation of financial reports and promoting the use of moder business practices.

• Collaborates with school leadership to develop an annual budget that aligns with strategic priorities of the school and Michigan school finance rules.

• Manages the budget tracking, revisions and reporting throughout the year.

• Works collaboratively with others who manage grants to ensure transparency and accuracy of all grants and federal funding programs.

• Provides leadership and coordination in finance, business operations and some human resource functions.

• Works collaboratively with administration to ensure adherence to all labor laws, school policies and employment regulations.

• Oversees the Business Operations area that supports student centered activities such as graduation, field trips, tournaments school supplies, uniforms, sports equipment, technology, food services and other purchasing needs for the school.

• Maintains a high level of professionalism, including confidential information and records contained in the high school.

• Works collaboratively with The Henry Ford Museums Talent & Culture team to assist in recruiting, hiring and onboarding new staff.

Your Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting

• 5 years' experience in school finance or related financial experience

• 3 years' experience managing grants and external funding sources

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of financial software systems used in schools and related financial software including Excel and PowerBi.

• Knowledge of state and federal funding mechanisms including Title I, ESSA and other grant programs.

• Chief School Business Official Certification MSBO certified Business Office Manager or Chief Financial Officer certification.

• Proven understanding of school business processes, financial reporting and compliance with education funding regulations.

• Highly organized and able to plan and meet deadlines.

• Demonstrated ability to write, speak and present complex information to a variety of audiences

• Superior interpersonal and leadership skills with a high degree of professionalism and decorum.

• Superior interpersonal skills, highest level of integrity, trust, and confidentiality.

• Personal qualities of empathy, self-awareness and self-reflection, and a sense of humor.
