Ford Motor Company Climate (Refrigerant) NVH Engineer in Dearborn, Michigan

What you'll do...

Responsibilities & Duties:

Climate Control NVH

  • Participant in development of new vehicle thermal management system concepts for electric vehicles.

  • Lead core technology development for upfront analytical process to predict and simulate NVH perfromance for vehicle thermal management system.

  • Own Refrigeration Systems NVH attribute

  • Update existing requirements and test methods and create new ones as needed.

  • Perform refrigeration NVH benchmarking on competitive vehicles, archive results, organize key NVH results to support program target setting discussions.

  • Deliver refrigeration NVH targets for programs lead by North American engineering team.

  • Set program specific targets

  • Set-Up Design verification plans in FEDE (Ford Engineering Design Environment) system.

  • Work with vehicle sensitivity CAE team to compete analytical CAE assessments for UNV-FDJ milestones.

  • Request and schedule DCV vehicles needed for DV testing.

  • Complete DCV vehicle testing.

  • Write and manage 8D’s when CAE/test results are not meeting targets.

  • Collaborate with climate systems engineering team to develop hardware that is capable to deliver desired NVH performance.

  • Evaluate and disposition TVM (Cost Reduction) proposals by setting up and execution mini-DV plans and present results and recommendations to management.

Lead refrigeration NVH core projects such as developing Simulink (or similar) system model that can connect vehicle operation situations and link to heating/cooling demand and refrigeration control strategies to then predict NVH experience. Leverage model to optimize energy usage and NVH performance.

DAT Feature NVH

Primary responsibility to NVH levels of electronic brake booster noise during adaptive cruise control braking events and work with calibration and brake controls teams to resolve any NVH issues.

You'll have...

•Bachelor degree in mechanical or electrical engineering

• 2+ years of experience in problem engineering problem solving methodologies such as 8D, system parametric models, 6-sigma disciplines, etc.

Even better, you may have...

•MS in mechanical or electrical engineering

•Experience testing vehicles and /or component NVH and/or sound quality and use of key sound quality metrics and sound data analysis including sound levels and psychoacoustic metrics.

•Understanding of powertrain NVH and methods to combine individual sources and paths to predict overall interior sound.

•3+ years of experience in data acquisition and analysis using Siemens test lab, Head Acoustics, CANaylzer, and/or transfer path analysis.

This position is a range of salary grades 5-8 .
