In this position...

The Category Implementation Buyer for Leaf Spring, Twist Beam and Air Suspension will tackle the challenges of delivering cost, quality and delivery targets along with improving supplier resiliency. You will be the face of Ford to the supply base, work to eliminate waste and help drive the restructuring of the commodities.

What you'll do…

Strategic Sourcing & Negotiation:

  • Understand upcoming program sourcing and key milestone in support of launch

  • Learn product attributes, cost targets, marketing expectations and footprint requirements to develop a comprehensive bid-list

  • Align bid-list with industry trends, technologies and strategic supplier analysis

  • Complete sourcing decision within Direct Sourcing Forum

Supplier and Commodity Management:

  • Immediate need – develop alternative to a one-supplier situation in North America for Leaf Spring

  • Develop and successfully execute negotiations strategy to deliver material cost targets, which requires developing deeper understanding of cost drivers and levers.

  • Support Quality initiatives by holding suppliers accountable and sourcing to Q1 sites or achieving Q1 sites where targeted/aligned.

  • Provide feedback to valued supply partners QCDR performance in order to build effective long-term, productive relationships with a healthy supply base.

  • Understand the latest supply base footprint, financial health ratings, technologies and trends

  • Develop strategy to introduce new suppliers to Ford where required to balance QCDR needs

Other Responsibilities:

  • Travel to supplier facilities

  • Attend internal and external workshops with key stakeholders for continued process improvements

  • Hold effective working-level meetings with Supply partners for fast issue closure and relationship development

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Strong data & analytics understanding

  • Ability to interpret organization needs and commercial strategies to develop commodity strategy

  • Strong knowledge across the sourcing process

  • Ability to develop and successfully execute negotiations strategy

  • High business acumen with solid understanding of Global organizations and ability to drive solutions independently.

  • Propensity to communicate clearly and solve open issues in a timely manner. Creativity, energy and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

  • Direct automotive production purchasing / supply chain experience preferred.

  • High energy with a relentless pursuit of learning and development to drive commodity expertise.

  • Persuasive and convincing communication skills (e.g., proposals, reports, plans) to secure commitment from business leaders.

  • High degree of trust and maintain strong relationships with Skill Team / regional leadership.

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8 .
