Premier Health PHARMACIST PROGR/ANALYST - EPIC WILLOW in DAYTON, Ohio

DEPT: DHT CLINICAL APPLICATIONS

Full-time - 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday - 100% Remote

Pharmacist Programmer/Analyst position for the Epic Willow (pharmacy) team.

This position is responsible for application configuration, deployment and support, change documentation, and will educate and inform staff on EPIC Willow (Pharmacy) functionality. The individual will anticipate business needs and think with a business owner mind-set based on a strong fundamental knowledge of the system, and the organizational infrastructure to recommend solutions that enable the enterprise to achieve its goals. These responsibilities require the individual to stay current with the Epic Willow system and/or other relevant Pharmacy related applications. Additionally, they will coordinate across multiple and varied teams to deliver solutions for the enterprise. This position will include on call responsibilities.

Premier Health utilizes the EPIC system as the electronic medical record (EMR) in which patient health information is entered and stored for the purpose of securing patient clinical information and enhancing patient care. Premier Health employs multiple Epic Teams that specialize in a range of applications within the Epic EMR.

The Epic Willow Team is responsible for the applications that encompass Configuring Medications, Med Lists, Med Orders, Label Printing, Carts & Batches, Dispense Logic, ADS Med Dispensing, Preference Lists, Charging, Medical Device Integration and Interfaces.

Essential Duties & Functions:

  1. Responsible for the processing and implementation of approved Willow or Pharmacy related change requests within established service level agreements.

  2. Responds to assigned system incidents, providing support and assistance to all users to correct and avoid recurrence of problems.

  3. Works as a team member on projects. Dimensions of project assignments range from simple stand-alone applications to large projects.

  4. Provides back-up assistance to other team members and shares knowledge/education with fellow team members.

  5. Receives assignments and works under close supervision of his/her immediate manager or senior-level team member.

  6. Researches, learns and understands the Premier Health IT policies, procedures and practices, especially related to change management, incident handling and service level agreements.

  7. Demonstrates progressive growth in capabilities, productivity, and delivery as capability and capacity develops.

  8. Participates in projects as the Willow representative, including system design documentation, procedures, process and data flows, and may provide recommendations for system enhancements and replacements.

  9. Evaluates software and hardware products and make recommendations for improving operations or processes.

  10. Typical work hours are M-F 8am-5pm and may vary based operational need. Required to participate in a 24 x 7 on-call support rotation to meet the critical clinical and business needs of the organization.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor's degree

  • Area of study or major: Pharmacy

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • Licensed by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy and such license is in good standing

  • Epic pharmacy product (Willow) certification preferred but not required. Must obtain within 6 months of being hired.

Experience

  • 2 years of Information Technology experience.

  • Requires knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of applications

  • Experience in Pharmacy, retail or hospital, preferred

Knowledge/Skills

  • Demonstrates specialized knowledge of and expertise in Epic Willow or relevant EMR systems, clinical applications, interfaces and device integration. Delivers solution sets for systems and application problems.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in all skills required to facilitate application and systems enhancements or replacements.

  • Capability to analyze and resolve system integration problems.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of Pharmacy, clinical and/or business operations.

  • Communicates effectively with users, colleagues, developers, and organizational administration.

  • Demonstrates excellent analytical skills.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional work teams with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrates advanced interpersonal skills to effectively interface with department leadership and staff, physicians, vendors, and consultants. Able to effectively communicate technical subjects to non-technical customers.
