Working at our Dayton site :

TDI has been leading design and manufacturer of turbine powered start systems for 40+ years and designer of turbine air motors for over 60 years. The TDI site in Dayton, OH is a part of Unison, a GE Aerospace Company. Unison is uniquely positioned to introduce the next-gen Air Turbine Starter for the CMF56-7B fleet. At the TDI site, Unison also produces Surface Coolers and Bellows to support the aerospace industry.

Role Overview:

  • Follow routers, procedures, specifications, and any other NDT related instructions that are necessary to perform FPI.

  • Perform all required process control checks on NDE equipment by following established specifications, work instructions and then recording the results in the process control log

  • Perform penetrant inspections using approved procedures and/or written techniques

  • Keep the equipment clean and ensure that it is working properly

  • Maintain a safe and clean work area

  • Maintain (keep current) their required NDT certifications, workmanship, and annual personnel auditing schedules

  • Stay current and up to date with procedures, specifications, and NDT related required training

  • Produces error free products and accurately completes paperwork

  • History of working effectively with co-workers, managers, and other employees in a team environment

  • Willing to cross train in other NDT methods

  • As needed, available to work extended or flexible schedule on short notice

  • Able to work under general direction with minimal supervision

The Ideal Candidate:

In this role the ideal candidate will primarily perform fluorescent penetrant inspections of weldments and tubing, castings, etc. in accordance with company/customer drawings and specifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate

  • Must pass near vision exam achieving at least Jaeger 1 at 12”

  • NDT Level 2 FPI Certification in accordance with NAS-410

  • Minimum 400 hours of FPI work experience (must be documented or evidence of prior certification from previous employer)

  • Minimum 32 hours of documented formal NDT training (syllabus or training certificate)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of aerospace manufacturing experience using non-destructive testing methods

  • Able to utilize measuring devices including comparators, micrometers, scales, and calipers

  • Blueprint Reading

  • Problem Solving (7 step or 6 sigma)

  • Thorough knowledge of the NDE method they will be primarily working in

  • Manufacturing processes (i.e. Brazing, Welding & Casting) and defects associated with these processes as they relate to NDT

  • Understanding of written instructions, procedures, and specifications related to the applicable NDT process(es)

  • Defect Data Collection System

  • NDT Data input (AS400)

  • Knowledge of Operating NDT equipment

  • Intermediate MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access skills

Additional Information:

  • Starting pay $27.21

  • Able to lift up to approximately 25 pounds. May occasionally lift 50 pounds (with assistance)

  • Able to work in an area where there is moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBa)

  • Able to work in an area where, due to normal machining operations there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL))
