LINQUEST CORPORATION Data Scientist in Dayton, Ohio

Description LinQuest is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team. US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance is required. LinQuest solves the toughest problems for our clients by extracting insight from data and delivering greater decision confidence. Our analysts are involved in a wide range of activities that range from understanding and transforming data, applying state of the art analytic techniques, and driving business impact through insight visualization. Our analysts are leveraged across of range of projects, such as advanced analytics, business intelligence, and application development. LinQuest analysts collaborate with Operations Research Analysts, Software Development Professionals, Data Architects, and DOD Subject Matter Experts. As a Data Scientist, the candidate will be adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for business optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. The Data Scientist candidate should have experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and/or creating/running simulations. Candidates must have a proven ability to generate data-driven insights. Candidates must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams and have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes. Responsibilities: Assist with executing analytical experiments methodically to help solve various problems and make a true impact across various domains and industries Research state-of-the-art data mining methods and innovative statistical models Identify relevant data sources and sets to mine for client business needs, and collect large structured and unstructured datasets and variables Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis Develop code for predictive/prescriptive models with applied machine learning and other modeling techniques Clearly document and present methodology, assumptions, and findings to stakeholders Required Skills: Analytical and problem-solving skills with hands on experience with driving analytic insights. Ability and motivation to self-teach in order to stay current with leading best practices in analytics. Ability to tackle difficult problems specifically working with unstructured textual data. Data wrangling skills. Expected to deliver in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment. Must thrive in satisfying analytic requirements from diverse user base. Expected to be able to adapt quickly to changing needs across several core areas, including data wrangling, data exploration, data analysis, and data visualization. Must have the knowledge and communication skills to articulate trade-offs between analytic techniques, recommend a course of action to clients, and provide effective updates on project outcome uncertainty to leadership. Preferred Skills: Exploratory Data Analysis Solid understanding of applied machine learning methods and algorithms Applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc. Data-oriented personality with proficiency in using data query languages such as SQL and ability to understand various data structures and common methods in data transformation Ability to use data visualization to communicate value of insights Required Experience: Bachelor Degree Hands on experience performing analysis to solve problems. Manipulating data with Python or R Developing data pipelines to support Analytics Applying advanced analytics and machine learning techniques Documenting and communicating results of analysis Familiarity with SQL and BI Tools (Tableau, Qlik etc.) US Citizenship and the ability
