As an API Management Product Owner, you will be responsible for leading Trane’s API Management strategy, development, and maintenance of API products and services. You will collaborate closely with highly technical agile teams to identify business requirements, define API roadmaps, and ensure the delivery of high-quality APIs that meet the needs of our customers and partners. Where is the work:

This position is eligible to work in either a fully remote capacity, or hybrid out of our Davidson, NC location. Candidates working remotely should be located within our regional geography (NC, SC, VA, TN)

What you will do:

  • Define and maintain the strategic vision for API products and services.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize API initiatives and create a roadmap aligned with business goals.

  • Maintains a prioritized backlog for API Management Platform team.

  • Close collaboration with API Domain Architect.

  • Define clear product requirements and user stories based on customer feedback.

  • Lead product roadmap and backlog prioritization and collaborate with technical stakeholders to ensure scalability, security, and reusability for the API Management platform.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Integrations & Middleware Development and Operations teams, partner systems, engineering, marketing, IT project teams in Trane, to gather requirements and align priorities.

  • Communicate API strategy, roadmap, and progress updates to key stakeholders and leadership.

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success of API products.

  • Ensure API Platform brings value to the enterprise through adoption, performance, and reliability.

  • Monitor API usage, performance, and reliability and identify areas for improvement and prioritize appropriately.

  • Coordinate tiering assessment to retrofit legacy APIs to API Management Platform and stakeholder alignment for migration of legacy APIs.

  • Identify opportunities for API monetization and expansion.

  • Implement strategies to enhance the developer experience and drive adoption of APIs.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes related to APIs and integration technologies.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or a related field.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of security principles, practices, and technologies, including cloud security, secure coding, infrastructure security, and compliance.

  • In-depth knowledge of API Management concepts and processes. Experience with Google Apigee a plus.

  • Experience working with Agile Teams using DevSecOps methodologies alongside tools such as CI/CD, containerization, and configuration management.

  • Experience leading and managing a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

  • Excellent project management and judgement skills, proven ability to solve problems, make important project impacting decisions, communicate risks and schedule impacts, and deliver value to the organization.

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $150,100-189,500

Total compensation for this role will include an incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
