Sovah Health is looking for the ideal candidate who isqualified to manage and direct residents in a graduate medical education program within the residency training requirements of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). At each participating site, there must be a sufficient number of faculty with documented qualifications to instruct and supervise all residents at that location.* * * · A Core Family Medicine Faculty member must dedicate at least 60 percent of his or her time (at least 24 hours per week or 1200 hours per year) to program administration, teaching, resident precepting, and scholarship hours per year including the supervision of residents during their patient care duties in the family medicine residency clinic, nursing home, and during home visits.* · Devote sufficient time to the educational program to fulfill their supervisory and teaching responsibilities ensuring safe and effective patient care.* · Demonstrate a strong interest in the education of residents.* · Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME/AOA core competency areas.* · Maintain clinical skills by providing direct patient care.* · Establish and maintain an environment of inquiry and scholarship including participating as an author or coauthor for scholarly projects.* · Regularly participate in and lead organized clinical discussions, teaching rounds, journal clubs, and conferences.* · Encourage and support residents in scholarly activities.* · Evaluate resident performance.* · Participate in faculty development activities regularly.* · Fulfill other assigned responsibilities, duties and tasks of them not specifically listed within this job description as directed by employee’s Family Medicine Program Director.* * *

Minimum Qualifications**

Minimum Education

Graduate of a College of Osteopathic Medicine and/or graduate of an Allopathic Medical School required

Completion of an Family Medicine Residency Program required

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Licenses:

Licensed to practice medicine in the state in Virginia required
