Baylor Scott & White Health Room Control Coord in Dallas, Texas
JOB SUMMARY
The Room Control Coordinator obtains patient information to assign, control, and log appropriate service accommodations for patients admitted for care. Coordinates special transfers according to room availability and admission approval from other medical facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Accepts reservations for incoming patients, urgent admissions, and Day Hospital.
Facilitates transfers from other healthcare organizations by collecting appropriate demographic and financial data, approving transfers and obtaining approvals for exceptions to transfer policies.
Coordinates activities with Nursing Staff and Physician Office to accommodate reservations due to impending conditions such as bed shortages, staff shortages, room transfers, and patient overflow.
Monitors hospital occupancy and tell Business Services Management of impending diversion conditions.
Logs and distributes Physician Orders, patient histories, and Clinic charts. Maintains records of patient furlough, room rate adjustments, in house transfers, and 24 hour observation.
Inputs data and reviews reports for anticipated admissions and makes any corrections as needed.
Enforces delinquent Physician policies by denying admitting privileges to Physicians and works closely with the Medical Record Department on delinquency lists.
Receives complaints about off service placement of patients due to high occupancy conditions and reports to Business Services Management for any follow up action necessary.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Relational skills required to interact effectively with patients and staff.
Ability to know the customer's point of view and take ownership of creating a solution to their issues.
Ability to balance many demands and respond to time constraints.
Must be able to communicate thoughts clearly; both through speech and in writing.
General computer skills, including but not limited to: using required software applications, data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, hand held scanning and email.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
