Job Description:

The Brain Circuits Laboratory, led by Steven Small, is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist interested in understanding the neurobiology of language using naturalistic approaches and dynamic network modeling.

The Research Associate will be primarily responsible for planning, conducting, and directing a wide variety of experiments, for evaluating and interpreting research data, all with a significant writing responsibility, including research protocols, IRB applications, grant proposals, and manuscripts. Supervision of graduate and undergraduate students is part of this responsibility. The position will involve conducting experiments using advanced human brain recording equipment; applying complex image acquisition and analysis techniques; and planning and executing experiments according to research protocols.

This position is in the Department of Neuroscience in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at The University of Texas at Dallas ( UTD — bbs.utdallas.edu). UTD is the fastest growing University in Texas, and until reaching its 50th anniversary recently, was ranked number 1 in the nation among universities less than 50 years old. The Solodkin/Small Brain Circuits Laboratory is physically located in the Texas Instruments Biomedical Engineering and Science Building on the campus of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, less than a mile away from the Callier Center for Communication Disorders, The UT Dallas Center for BrainHealth (which houses two Siemens Prisma 3T MRI systems), the UT Dallas Center for Vital Longevity (brain aging Institute), the University of Texas Advanced Imaging Research Center (which houses a 7T MRI scanner and a MEG unit), and the D’Mello Lab in the Department of Psychiatry at UTSW and the Department of Psychology at UT Dallas. Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D in a related field.

Preferred Education and Experience:

REQUIRED :

  • Ph.D in Neuroscience, Psychology, Computer Science, Engineering, or Linguistics

    HIGHLY PREFERRED :

  • Ph. D. in Cognitive Neuroscience or related field

  • A minimum of two first author papers published or accepted in impactful peer-reviewed journals

  • A firm background in human neuroscience, computational and statistical methods, software tools for imaging, MRI scanning
